    $$$$

It's still surprises me that the national media doesn't give Olshey and Stotts the benefit of the doubt. For example they think giving $70m to Evan Turner was a joke. Just like last year, when they laughed at the contract Aminu got.

Olshey and Stotts have proven time and time again that they know what they're doing. I really couldn't care less if the media wants to acknowledge it, but I will continue to laugh when they ignore it while they pimp some scrub squad like the Jizz instead.

Fun fact: When Joe Johnson got the ball, I yelled out loud "Iso Joe!" He immediately threw up and air ball and my kids loled like mad :)

Barrett had the mellow Pacific Northwestern personality. Rice had the humorous rebelliousness of an old Western hippy. The new Blazer Business Manager from Southern California replaced everyone with more foreign, standard types. Calabro & Hurd are good by conformist standards, but some resentment will remain as we take it out on Hurd. Hurd had good analysis last night, but his youth lacks the weight to be endearingly funny like Rice.

    Another quick hit:
When it comes to starting, it's Moe 1, ET 0. Stotts said not to read anything into who started the game, so I'm not. ET was good, but Harkless was markedly better.

    They're not negative.

But they are very indicative of his game and his deficiencies. And it appears from all accounts, he's addressed some of those deficiencies this summer.

I've been thinking more about the Mike and Mike thing and I'm getting more irritated by it. I went into the game last night completely open minded to the new announcing team. By the end of the game I was bored. And then I got angry. Old Portland is dead and/or dying and this is just one more nail in the coffin. For that reason, I hate it. It matters that Mike and Mike possessed obvious civic pride. It mattered that Rice was a little goofy and odd. It mattered that the players trusted them. It really fucking matters that they were adored by MOST Blazers fans. I just want to hold on to one fucking shred of the Portland I grew up in. I've already been priced out of the city. I'll never be able to justify living there again. VQ is closing, Bombay Cricket Club closed, the Rialto is closing, and these are just a few examples of old Portland dying. I hate it. It may not be fair to Calabro or Hurd because honestly they did an ok job. I'm just bitter.

Obviously it was only their first game but I'm not sold on Calabro at all. It didn't feel like I was listening to a Blazers broadcast. He sounds like a generic national TV play by play guy.. A good example is that he called Aminu "The Chief", which I don't think I had heard before. That's something an ESPN guy trying to pretend like he knew our team would say. I hope he gets better.

I missed the Mikes last night, like I would miss any old friend I have watched games with in my TV room for the past 20 years. It seemed odd they were not there to enjoy in the victory. They were great Homers. I wish they could be part of the organization in a different capacity, because although I missed them, I really enjoyed hearing a new voice. I thought Calabro and Hurd were very refreshing. I was not annoyed once.

Calabro & Hurd pack more information into each minute. Barrett & Rice are more breezy. I found myself concentrating to absorb Calabro's quick narrative.

No more drinking while watching the game!

Maybe Comcast could give Barrett & Rice some football games. There is more small talk time to kill between plays. Verbally, a game of strength, not quickness.

Calabro was a corporate hire to give the team more credibility from the outside. I don't like it, but I get it. Calabro is better than Barrett. The problem is I don't see the chemistry with Hurd ever getting to the level of mike and mike. I actually don't think Hurd will be in Portland for long. I get the impression that he's using the gig to springboard to something bigger, which is fine, but I won't be getting invested in him.

Everyone in this thread is saying that Turner had a good game, but I say he sucked. Look at the box score.

Harkless is the starting SF imo and if his shot really is improved, he could easily cut into Aminus PT as well.

Yes because the box score tells everything. He looked good to me. Has a good midrange shot, creates his own shot, creates well for others (should've had a lot more assists, guys missed open looks off his passes) and is a solid defender.

I don't think everyone is saying ET had a good game. I don't think he has been mentioned much at all. Not compared to the other players. But I also don't need to look at a box score to determine his value. He made some bad passes and he missed some shots....but the team played well when he was on the floor.

Yeah Crabbe looked really really good. Had a couple of flea flickers and some good passing off the drive. He will surprise opponents early who are used to his old scouting report.
