For only the sixth time in the history of NBA All-Star Saturday Night, all of the reigning champions will defend their crowns. Next month, Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat (PlayStation? Skills Challenge), Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks (Sprite Slam Dunk), Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks (Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout) and Team San Antonio (Haier Shooting Stars) will each look to repeat in Las Vegas.http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/444..._defend_crowns/AWFUL idea...especially Nate Robinson...disgracefulid rather see James White than Nate "Takes 20 minutes and still gets a high score" Robinson

Thats pretty lame.I would rather see new people in, and Nate is for sure not going to win it this year. Iggy should of won it last season.
Well they win they deserve to come back the next year. In Nates case, just deal with it. If he looses this year I doubt he will ever get the invite back
Awesome, we get to watch another rigged dunk contest this year!Seriously, that was a joke last year. Andre Iguodala clearly got robbed. Guess the dunk contest will take about 3 hours once again this year.
If you win the competition, you get an automatic invite the next year to defend your title, this is nothing new. I have no problem with Dirk doing it again, I don't have a problem with Wade doing it again, and I really couldn't care less about the team shooting contest. But I am mad that Nate decided to come back. Come on, it's not like he can do anything else! He's so small, and while he's a spectacular athlete, he WILL need to re-do things again this year. And yes, people will give him a higher score than they would for anyone else for certain dunks because of his height (which is fair). But come on. If Dwight Howard gets invited to go along with Nate, I'll be pissed. All I can say is if Gerald Green doesn't get an invite, I'll kill someone.

It seems to be only awful because of Nate. But I think it's a good idea that makes sense. The winner should come back the next year and defend the title. It'll make for a more interesting development. Like a person might have a streak that needs to broken.
I think its good 2 have the last champ back. for the dunk contest though where winners are decided buy some old legends, I dont think the champ should be automatically invited, especially with nate robinson bein defendin dunk champ.
I know that Nash said he didn't want to do the Skills Challenge last year but they told him he had to defend. I think he said he doesn't like All Star Weekend and would rather rest. I pretty much agree. It should be optional unless you're a garbage team(like the Atlantic division) and have no shot at anything in the playoffs, then you have to go. I'd rather have more rested players playing harder in the playoffs than worn down guys because they didn't get that 5 day rest period and were barraged by media imbeciles and stuff.
I am 50-50 on that, I remember regarding the last 2 3pt challenges where the winners came back to defend their titles, but were having bad yrs. Quentin Richardson won it with the Suns in 05' after having a great yr from behind the arc but last season with the Knicks he stunk but still was invited back and the year before Voshon Lenard of the Nuggets won it in 04' but was out for the season in 05' but participated to try and defend his crown that yr.I was happy Nate won cause I am a Knick fan but he definately did not deserve it because he tried the same dunk like 20 times. I liked his jump over Spud Webb but Igoudala had a nice showcase including when Allen Iverson threw it off the back of the back board and Iggy just put it down it was like damn! I really don't blame Iguodala if he doesn't wanna do it again cause he got screwed the fact a competitor in the dunk contest is under 6 feet. Its that time of year in basketball when it comes to certain players being selected for the events that take place and there is always controversey so I am not surprised but all I am gonna say is if Nate wins it better be cause he deserves to.
Nate Robinson will never deserve to win a dunk contestthe voting is always gonna be scaled and unfair for him..he could throw down a tomahawk and still get like a 48....and it isnt like he's a creative dunker....so
And Nate didn't even clear Spud cleanly... Spud leaned back a little, and Nate's foot hit is shoulder as well.
