I get what you are saying but todays day and age you have plenty of guys like me who would stand if anyone was standing because i believe in respecting my brothers. And by brothers i mean the human race. I know there are plenty of people like me. I always give a seat to elderly, women or children in a public setting i dont care what race they are.

I thing our entire government was intended to adapt and change and i think we have changed thanks to greats like mlk jr. And the like. We are "united" states after all. The flag can represent that willingness to change, self reflect, and unite. Its all perspective.

I thought the Canadian anthem was when the Blazers should do their stretching

I am sure he doesn't, but he does need butts in the seats. He best suspend having the National Anthem before games if he is going to allow the players to disrespect the tradition, the Nation, and all those that have served.

I do not like the players huddling during the Anthem. But, I do not believe it is a serious issue to spend a lot of time on.

It is similar to when your infant children spit their food out and make a mess. You do not like it, but, accept it as a part of the process of their growing up.

You don't think elimination of the pre-game anthem would be met with ten times more vitriol than these huddles are?

Probably. Starting with the NBA I imagine.

Perhaps. But the NBA has been around for 70 years or so now without this disrespectful display being part of the growing up process.

Id start by saying its wrong to enslave people and they are now free and should now be counted. Surprised your debating this.

    Okay... first.
When did I say YOU in my first couple of lines. I said IT's.
So no, I was not specifically using that as a rebuttal to you specifically. It was a generalistic statement. Alot of this post I agree with.
Anyone can voice their opinions. Its when we start forcing those opinions that it gets out of hand.

You are inferring that I told you what to or not to say and I don't believe I did. I suck at proper articulation unless its verbal.

My point is its all opinions and nobody should tell anyone they cant voice them and this can go on and on and on and on. Dont tell me what to do... don't tell ME what to do...

    Ugh...

My point is, why? It will just be an endless circle of negativity.

Let the protest play out. Its peaceful. Look the other way. Feel your pride in being an American and don't let others deter that simply because they have differing viewpoints of the flag and the national anthem.

Yes you have the right to voice your opinion thinking its disrespectful and I have the right to voice my opinion that I think your being narrowminded (not really)

In order to break these cycles, someone has to be the better man, so lets move on and just treat individuals with respect, no matter gender, sexual preference or race.
That will cease the need for protests and cease the need to protest the protests...

Surely we can agree on that, no?

Again, I'm not telling anyone to do anything. I'm just voicing my opinions on how to stop the bigotry and how to stop the complaints about the protests... Take it as you see fit.

He won't have a problem with that. He's not gonna suspend the national anthem because of the few like you who get way to caught up in what other people are doing.

Another great point. Too many people are soo worried about what OTHERS are doing when odds are they are probably disrespecting someone in another way on a daily basis.

Worry about yourself! Not everyone else....

And as correct as that would have been, there would have been no United States if the northern states had insisted on that platform, and then Britain would likely have been able to return and reverse the result of the revolution with the colonies divided. You can't see how that would have been considered a worse result?

It's getting worse and worse. It's to the point where if you don't have the same beliefs, viewpoint, or you're doing something that someone else wouldn't do or doesn't agree with, then they'll be extremely offended, angry, or look down upon you with no respect for the difference between you two, or for the viewpoint you have.

Celtics holding hands during the anthem last night was a callback to the 1960-61 Celtics who held hands to make a civil rights statement
