Re: Greatest Song in each Band's History Good topic SunnyD. :happy0144: Well on that note, I'm going to have to disagree with you on some of these. Led Zeppelin-Stairway to HeavenAs I've talked to other Zeppelin fans, they are either "Kashmir" or "Stairway" fans. What I mean by that, is people who like Kashmir think that "Stairway" is overated and think that the lyircs of "Kashmir" is the better of the two, and vice versa. The solo on "Stairway" is just incredible. And to think that it was all improv too. Page actaully did the solo on the spot in the recording studio. When they played it back, it was just golden. After that, he had to learn it for concerts. Pink Floyd-Comfortably NumbThe Floyd is so hard to do since I really never judge thier songs as individuals, but rather the album as a whole. Everyting usually runs so well together. Now "Another Brick" had a ton of commercial success, but I pick "Comfortably Numb" because in all reality, I think that it was the harder song to write. I really think that just about anyone could of written "Another Brick", but "Comfortably Numb" has an enormous amount of feeling and pain that comes out when played. As with "Stairway", this too has an incredible guitar solo. I'll agree with both Pearl Jam, Queen, Gunz'N'Roses, and Aerosmith. :winkglasses: Now on to Nirvana. I like "Smells like Teen Spirit", but in no way do I think this is thier best song. If you just count on commerical success, then yes, by far it is number 1, but its not the best written song by them. It also is the poster child if you will of Nirvana and the entire Grunge music movement. After this was played, yes, every band ditched the tight spandex, makeup, and big hair of the 80's and put on flannel shirts, dyed thier hair bleach blonde, and didnt shower for a week to try and blend in and sound like the Seattle music scene. Now as I've been writing this, I've been thinking of two songs off the same album that "Teen Spirit" came off of. That would be "Come As You Are" and "Lithium." I just dont know which on to choose. Both songs are in my opinion better than "Teen Spirit." I could even go with "Something in the Way" even though its like 5 lines long and just repeated over and over 5 times. When I hear it on the "Unplugged" album, I almost want to cry because you can hear the pain and all the emotion that is in Cobain's voice. Here are a few more that I'll add.Eric Clapton-LaylaThe Beatles-A Day in the LifeJohn Lennon-ImagineElton John-Goodbye Yellowbrick RoadThe Band-The WieghtBob Dylan-Like a Rolling StoneCream-Sunshine of Your Love (I would pick Crossroads, but its a Robert Johsnson cover)Radiohead-Karma Police
