Nothing like the start of the hockey season! Got swept by the Isles last year but both teams looking much different now. Get that first W out of the way tonight!

Have to admit. Thought no way Buchnevich made this. Glad I was wrong. Looking forward to watching the young forwards. Not so much the defense.

Yeah, same here...only 3 forwards born prior to 1990 on the roster...has to be the youngest group of forwards they have started with in a while.

So Dylan is not dressed against even these clowns. That piece of crap Holden is in. Way to go, AV.

Damn. Rangers speed is back. Man they are quick out there. Haven't seen puck movement and shooting like this in years. Finally some guys who like to shoot. Pirri has to stay in the lineup.

McDonagh should be on the 2nd pp unit and Clendening the 1st.

Skjei has had an excellent game. Girardi's been ok but i just don't see him making it through a whole season.

Nice to get a win over the Islanders out of the way after last year's disaster. Much different Rangers team for sure. Will be interesting to see how it plays out of the course of the season. Nice to see Kreider get off to a quick start.

Nice win. Team looks faster and more skilled. PB and Vesey looked good.. Didn't notice Nash or Hayes at all

Only one game but it looks like they have some very capable forwards...so tough defensive zone breakdowns to give up 3 goals in the 3rd....don't like seeing that. But, yeah fast start for Kreider, Zib and Pirri.

CK was a beast tonight, Hank looked sharp, PP generated shots and scored a goal. Lots of positives especially beating the fishsticks.

Good opening game. This team will score their share of goals. D was not
able to clear their net area. Did not show a shut down D. Very happy that
Lundqvist was able to get a win against his nemesis, Halak. Did not beat
Isles last year in four games. We are off the schneid.

No way Pirri is coming out of the lineup. He's crucial on the PP and period for a team that has spent years not shooting the puck.

Girardi and Stall are horrible. Holden is not great neither. Why AV hates Dylan McIlrath? Part of me was very sad yesterday to see the kid being a healthy scratch. Dylan McIlarth should be 3 D on this team after McD and Klien. Not only he should have played but he should have been on top 2 D since Klein was out. This is just not fair for Dylan. He gives Hayes every opportunity and Hayes is garbage on O. I hope AV is fired soon. I can't stand him anymore. It was the first time when the victory wasn't complete for me. AV will never win the cup!

Ridiculous. I can understand wanting the kid to play but the overrating at this point has met epic levels.

I love McIlrath as much as the next guy but this is just crazy talk.

Never mind the fact that AV started two rookies in the top 6. Not one, but two. Never mind the fact that AV kept playing Buch and didn't staple him to the bench Torts style, despite him costing us a goal with a bad pass and then getting beat back on defense.

The win is not complete because a third young player didnt get to play.

    Can't make this stuff up.

Am I happy McIlrath didn't play. No. However, I'm sick of this team losing to the Islanders and making Halak look like Hasek. They shelled his ass which was long, long, overdue. There were a ton of positives out of this game.
