Just hate not getting at least a point out of these types of games. Is what it is (Chuckism) and alot of positive offensive signs.

I actually love how this team is playing for the most part. The defense looked a lot better last night. They deserve to have more than 4 points in 4 games and need to finish but there is a ton of new players and offensively they look deep and dangerous. Wonder if they are trying to get Trouba somehow, thats the guy they need on the back end.

Tough loss, would have at least gotten a point if Hank didn't brain cramp and think he could stickhandle. Great offensive creativity but lack of finishing cost them in both games they lost.

Also remember they have two young forwards with offensive upside who have barely played any games in the NHL. Takes time to adjust. I'm not liking the Duck talks If bonehead AV trades McIlrath in a deal for Fowler I will be pissed. If they trade Graves I'll be irate. Fowler blows. Have to think it is a deal that is built around McIlrath, Lindberg and perhaps a player like Fogarty. I would not trade Lindberg. However, you can see AV has love for Nieve. Vatanen is the guy I want.

Yes x10000. Obviously the guy I'd really want is Trouba. But there's a lot of smoke with us and the Ducks right now, lots of scouts at each other's games, and if we're talking to them Vatanen has the be the guy. Fowler would make no sense. If you guys thought Yandle was bad defensively Fowler will get run out of the state. He makes Yandle look like Shea Weber.

Two more reasons why it is probably Vatanen (if we're being smart): First, Fowler is a LD which is the last thing we need. Vatanen is RD, which is the clear need. We're so backlogged on the left and short on the right we're playing freaking Nick Holden on the right. Second, a theme with the Ranger has always been that, eventually, we get our guy. They were after Nash for two years. They were after Yandle for "awhile." E. Staal was on the radar for two years. If you remember back to the 2014 deadline, Boomer (who is rarely wrong) reported us in big time on a deal for Vatanen centered around Girardi. Obviously we decided to resign G instead, and traded Cally for MSL. The merits of not making that deal are beside the point. The point is that Vatanen has been on our radar. I trust Gorton to be smart here and not trade for Fowler which doesnt help us at all.

The Ducks are in a very bad place. They have about 400k in cap space which would be bad enough, but their best defenseman in Lindholm is still unsigned as an RFA because they havent cleared the space to sign him. They have no leverage with anybody right now. I dont want to trade McIlrath but it's becoming obvious AV has no use for him, meaning he'll walk as a UFA after this year for not playing enough games. McIlrath, Lindberg and if we have to the OTT 2nd round pick we got for Brassard. Then they throw in a 4th or so to balance it out.

    McDonagh-Vatanen
    Staal-Clendening
    Skjei-Klein

    Three very balanced pairs.

You're probably looking at giving up a 1st and 2nd in a package for Vatanen if they decided to give him up. Sadly guys McIlrath dosen't hold all that much value or we'd be seeing more of him here. I bet they'd want Graves instead plus Lindberg.

A 1st, a 2nd, Graves, and Lindberg? For Vatanen? They can ask for that all they want but absolutely nobody would pay anything close to that. Not us, not any of the other 28 teams out there (subbing in their own prospects of equal value).

Teams that need to make a cap dump have NO leverage. Remember what Nick Leddy went for? And he was on an even better contract than V is.

Right, not all that Prodigy but some combo of it including a 1st. I actually like what i saw from Graves in the preseason, i didn't realize he was more a mobile dman. For Vatanen i'd probably do he and a 1st.

Not trading Graves. Period. I think he has a chance to be a star.
