Why would this be scary to you? At worst it's an uncomfortable situation. I mean maybe if you were a politician or something, but is there really a scenario that you can drum up that would legitimately threaten you?
Whoa where did that come from? "Hey guys" is usually a slip up, phrase that just comes out when i have social anxiety among a group of people. So my intent is never bad. However, increasingly lately I have heard from people how offensive it is to women.
I hate uncomfortable situations in person. My line of work can be pretty confrontational so i prefer not to have in person confrontations outside of work. At work i can flip a switch and not let it bother me, but in my personal life that shit bothers me. More of a social anxiety thing. Not in a threatening im gonna kill you way.
What about people born intersexed? You seem to be pretty narrow minded on this issue. Anyone who isn't like you is mentally ill?
Exactly except when it comes to calling it a hate crime when you refer to them as he or she instead of Ze or hir. And I know how it affects families more than you know. My wife's newphew's dad decided to be a she after his kid was born. Awesome dad eh? Sigh... no it's not like that at all.
We aren't talking about these classifications. We are specifically talking about male to female and vice versa and the hate crime bills coming forth for not referring to them as whatever the fuck new gender class they want to be called.
Why does it matter though? If someone doesnt fit on the gender binary scale..... who cares? Is that scary? Its not like them choosing to identify as something else affects me fucking a biological woman with tig ol bitties.
How do you know for sure what their genitals are until you look? If someone appears female to you, but has a penis and tells you to refer to them as a male, are you going to continue to call them a female? Don't you think that is harassing them, by repeatedly calling them a gender they've told you they aren't? How is this any different?
Harassment? LOL no not anymore than that lady who takes time out of her day to flip off a trump supporter. But when we start crafting legislation around mentally ill conditions and citing hate speech I get concerned.
Not my problem. There was a homeless person sitting in the middle of the sidewalk the other day when I went to see my disabled aunt. The person looked like a guy to me. The person moved out of the way so my aunt could pass and I said "thank you sir" If it was a woman who looked like a guy or a guy who looked like a girl who looked like a guy or an alien from They Live...I don't care. My mom told me she thought it was a girl. I think it was a guy waiting for a girl in the homeless shelter the sidewalk was in front of. I haven't given it any thought until this thread. If I knew that person directly and I knew the person's name I'd call them that. I'm not interested in the pronoun they choose, I've been out of school for over 20 years. If that makes me a dick and someone wants to punch me in the face I welcome that. If someone wants to pass a law requiring me to care or use a certain word I don't even want to know, fuck them.
Just for clarification, I believe that because of the same thing I believed years ago. Long before Hillary believed in gay marriage I did, why? Because it is supposed to be a free country. Fuck a blender for all I care, I just don't want to know about it.
Here is another story I hope is fake http://heatst.com/culture-wars/left...f-color-harass-white-students-trying-to-pass/
Was being silly about how silly it is. Unfortunately times change, and words or phrases that were once acceptable suddenly cease to be so. I guess imo it's just quite likely a losing fight to get indignant about it.
http://www.hannity.com/articles/ele...p-supporters-attacked-at-university-15245536/ " Matt Kerlin was volunteering for the Trump campaign outside the library, giving out campaign materials when he–along with fellow volunteers – were verbally attacked from hecklers. According to The Pitt Maverick, Kerlin and the other volunteers were getting hostile comments from anti-Trump activists like “F*ck the white male patriarchy,” and “I can’t believe you guys are actually people.” The abuse didn’t end with verbal taunts, unfortunately. One agitator tried to steal a stack of merchandise and run off with it before he was caught. And from there it only escalated. Two students came over to the table, swept all the literature onto the ground, and then flipped the table over before running away." Our future, oh so bright!
What do you..... people.... use instead of "you guys" when you're talking to women? I always feel like such a fucking creeper when I say "hey ladies."
Ha! I hear you. But what are you going to do? Flop back and forth between "Yo" and "Ladies"? Glares triggering the flip.
I talked with several Yacht club groups when I was up in the River this spring. It is surprising how many women are running their own boats these days and quite a few were interested in the MarAzul and what I had to say. Well they are a tough bunch, a whole lot more sensitive about what a man says than the men are. Danged if I didn't feel like I had to tune in and watch it a little more.
