Not in Sydney, but it's a national competition, so I might check him out when he's in town. @BlayZa might check him out when they play in NZ.

It's an interesting signing because each team is only allowed to have 3 non Aussies/Kiwis. Usually imports (especially point guards) are required to be scorers in this league. If they don't score they get cut pretty quickly. But Sydney coach Andrew Gaze has said that Blake's role will be different to what is usual, so we'll have to wait and see I guess. It'll be strange if they're willing to burn an import slot on a 3 & D guard.

The thing about the Sydney Kings, is that they like to see themselves as the Aussie version of the Lakers. So whilst I wish Blake good luck, I wish his team nothing but failure and misery.

Yes he did, not he doesn't. S-Jax played for the Sydney Kings before he played in the NBA.

As highlighted by Hooper winning the John Eales medal. Having an open side flanker who doesn't win ball at the breakdown agrivates me. Having him win an award confounds me.

You'd be wanting a Rugby League match (not Rugby Union) especially a Canterbury-Bankstown match.

What does Blake still have to play for? He has money. He has a hot wife. He has had a long career. I don't get it.

For anyone interested in watching Blake, you can watch every game of the Australian National Basketball League for only $30 AUD; or you can watch every game of one team for free.

    https://www.nbl.tv/

The night games won't line up well for you, but the afternoon games will.

Blake should suit up for his first game this Sunday afternoon. Tip off is 9:00 PM Saturday Portland time. Right after the Trail Blazers game.

At some point, it's time to hang em up and help raise your fucking kids.

    Quit being selfish Steve.

That point is when his family as a whole (including his wife and kids) determine it to be. Not when some dude on a forum thinks it is time.

The whole point of a forum is for dudes on a forum to post opinions that nobody gives a shit about except other dudes on the forum.

Otherwise, what's the point of being here?

That's pretty judgmental and definitely undeserved from what I've observed personally, Nate. I attend the same church and have seen Steve interact with his kids. He's a great dad. I don't know what his motives are exactly in taking this job, but maybe taking his family to a different country and exposing them to some new things isn't the worst thing a dad could do for his kids?

How is Blake any different then any other guy who is still playing that is no longer in the NBA? He isn't near the only one who has played this long in this situation. You threw out an F' bomb. I have no idea why this would rile you up so. I personally still enjoy watching him play so happy he is still doing what he loves.

If you think me saying "fuck" is an indication of me being riled up or upset, then you don't know me very well.

I use swear words to emphasize my point.

Blake isn't any different than the other guys that go play in China, or maybe he is. But my point is that these guys subject their family to a lot of moving around, OR they're just gone a lot. That's fine when you're still in your prime and you're making money, but why would you still subject your family to that kind of lifestyle when you're clearly at the end of your career? He has made his money. He has had a long and successful career. It just seems selfish at this point.

Being a great dad when you're around is fine.... but the NBA lifestyle requires a lot of travel. Steve has played for 8 teams. He's 36 years old. It just strikes me as very selfish to keep seeking a career in basketball when he has already made his money. He was in the league for 13 years. Now he's going to go play overseas.

My opinion, and you're welcome to disagree, is that he isn't very good at basketball anymore and he should stop playing and spend time with his family.

You are making a heck of an assumption here. Which is fine because this is a message board but let's not pretend that is the only logical explanation. For all we know his wife is pushing this. Or his kids or both. Or they have a winter home there. Favorite place to vacation, etc.
