<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>In 1993, Charles Barkley released an autobiography entitled "Outrageous!" On Friday night, Barkley delivered the sequel. After the All-Star starters were named, Barkley, Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller made their selections for the Eastern and Western Conference reserve spots for the 2007 All-Star Game on TNT Tip-Off presented by AutoTrader.com. But on several occasions, Barkley refused to even pick a player. While Smith and Miller pegged the Nets backcourt of Jason Kidd and Vince Carter as their East guard picks, Barkley would only give Kidd the nod, awarding the other spot to "Nobody." "I'm not giving a below .500 team two All-Stars," said Barkley, unimpressed by Carter's 25.1 point per game scoring average. "It ain't a dominant 25 points a night. New Jersey is below .500. I'm not giving no lifetime achievement awards like you other people do." When asked why not award Rip Hamilton (22.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.7 apg) the other guard slot, Barkley refused, drawing further shock -- and laughter -- from the TNT crew. Retorted Miller, "Rip Hamilton's been their (the Pistons) most consistent player this year." But Barkley wasn't done yet with his surprising choices. Smith and Miller again agreed by picking Hamilton for one of their two wild card spots, in addition to Ben Gordon and Alonzo Mourning, respectively. Barkley chose Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell and Orlando Magic coach Brian Hill for the wild card spots, sparking a roar of laughter. On the Western Conference side, Barkley, Smith and Miller weren't quite so far apart. The only difference in opinion came from one roster spot, with Smith and Miller going with Carmelo Anthony and Barkley selecting Josh Howard, citing Anthony's suspension earlier this season as the deciding factor between the two. Phoenix Suns center Amare Stoudemire (18.8 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.4 bpg) drew a unanimous selection at center. "I think he's come back from the injury, he's show that he's not hurt anymore," said Smith. "Last year I think we were all skeptical on what his comeback (would look like). This is the Amare Stoudemire we expected when he first came back from the injury (last season)." That is how Charles Barkley is. I dont think he was trying to be funny when he said he couldnt pick a starting SG. I mean, I understand not giving it to Carter, but why not Hamilton if you dont want to give it to him.
