Aminu: 5.8 pts, 7.8 rebs, 24% FG, 21% 3pt on 5 attempts a game in 28 mpg, 7.4 PER Davis: 2.4 pts, 4.2 rebs, 39% FG in 16 mpg in 16 mpg, 8.4 PER So far, these two have the biggest deviation from mean. And it's not like it's a small sample size. 5 games playing nearly 30 mpg for Aminu, and 16 mpg for Davis. This needs work.
I kind of expected Aminu's shooting to return to earth. Davis is more puzzling. My theory: he heard Lillard call him "his James Jones" and realized that meant he was bound to be traded soon.
They have both digressed...if anything this proves Aminu plays better at the 3. Maybe Davis is still trying to get used to that extra 15 pounds of muscle
They are both my candidates for getting traded this season. On very reasonable contracts, and we have guys who play at their positions. If we do indeed make a consolidation trade, either one or both of those guys are gone.
I tend to agree. What would this net us? Aminu/Davis/Crabbe/Leonard/Cle 1st? What is the optimal return and what is the realistic return do you think? Could we get a Noel/Okafor?
I will say I was glad when Terry pulled Aminu in the 4th after he bricked a couple 6 footers. But I would have brought him back in on the last defensive play of the game. If he is your best defender, then why was he not out there? That is when you need him most....
For all of them? Much more than Noel, I imagine. Ideally you consolidate 2-3 assets for one player and remaining 2-3 for another. We could get two pretty good players for those packages. Then again we will be missing shooting guard backup if we let Crabbe go without replacement. Aminu and Davis will be wanted across league. With their contracts they are very atttactive offerings.
Wait until Miami starts falling and offer them a package for Whiteside. I would much rather have him then a headcase like Cousins.
Yeah but why would Miami get rid of Whiteside? They have gone young and he is their best young piece.
Yeah this. If they are going to build around someone from this team, it will be him. Marc Gasol if Memphis are failing this season. Davis and Aminu seem like players they could work with.
He's not really that young. He's 27, which means he's in his prime right now. For big guys that rely on athleticism, how many really good years will he have? Four? Maybe five?
Well basketball is dynamic. Heat are abysmal now but will have some cap space and are generally an attractive destination, so might go heavy in free agency.
They have lost Wade and Bosh and while having a couple young players like Winslow and Waiters what do they have? Luke Babbit? They lost a lot last year and are looking to rebuild. We could offer them Pat and ......
You lost me there for a second, until I realized you must be talking about the Marlins, not the Heat. BNM
The guy has a 9.5" standing reach and a 7'7" wing. He is not solely relying on athleticism. I think 5 good years might be right though. But that is all that counts since it is the length of his contract.
Davis earned his time through shining in practice and really nailing the time he got on court in games, which lead to more and more. As with all non starters, this should be the way it works, and i think he more than most would understand and appreciate this. He has to get back into the 'something to prove' mindset as opposed to just accepting being a guaranteed part of the core rotation. performance matters. im all for poor performances being relative to minutes, earn it - then you have it. not sure how much can be attributed to that 15lbs of new weight (muscle) but he does seem to be a little less nimble and less able to get into the optimal position to impact a play. maybe lean and mean is more his jam, than being a tank.
It's the usual dilemma: either they're good enough that we wouldn't want to trade them or they're bad enough that nobody would want to trade FOR them. We are currently on the second horn of that dilemma.
What part of him missing every shot and still being a terrible dribbler has you convinced he should be playing small forward?
