http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=17971297 Talks about his time in Portland. Just saw this pop up. Should be a good way to finish my Friday.
Batum was all for the Afflalo trade, thought that gave us a great end of game line up. From the way he talked, the others wanted it too.
It's a great podcast. They touch on Wes' injury and it's impact, Dame and the shot, Roy and the 22 point Dallas game, Oden.....a LOT of great stuff in this podcast. One interesting thing Batum mentioned when talking about Minny and us matching is he said "Portland DOES NOT like it when players leave for free, they love when they can trade you". Definitely gives a little bit of credence to the thought we could very well have resigned players to trade them the next season or two. Overall, if you read this forum you need to listen to this one.
Man, it's crazy to hear that Nico's got a kid now. Not with Melanie, but still. We watched this guy grow up. He, Wes, and Sergio were my favorite players from the past decade. He was a frustrating player to watch, but I definitely miss the guy.
Haha. It's true when you realize he played B. Roy as the alpha dog, then LA. Of course he's going to say B. Roy is the best player he's played with.
That was just a great trade but in hindsight looks horrible because Wes went down with the achilies injury and then Afflalo injured his shoulder and it never healed, hell he was out there playing one armed against memphis in the playoffs.
So many people here just look at numbers and results and say it was good or bad. Many people here seem to forget that most everything in life is riddled with circumstance...just like this trade was.
Nic didn't really play with Dame when Dame was the first option like BRoy was....Dame was deferring to Lamarcus his first 3 years here.
Interesting that Nic says Wes was the heart and soul of that team. Also that Marvin Williams is a great lockerroom guy. I think Cho is trying to amass those - MKG is supposed to be that way. That team is already overachieving. Maybe Cho is actually good.
On Portland: "I love it. I love that place." Yeah, had to trade him because he was going to leave, right?
