<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The fact director of basketball operations Danny Ainge was involved in the meeting yesterday in which the Celtics [team stats]tried to discuss their way out of an 11-game losing streak runs counter to the theory that he?d just as soon run the table with defeats and pile up draft lottery tickets. But, as crazy as it might sound, the players are taking things even further. Eight games out of first place in the Atlantic Division with 39 to play, the Celts were reaching to rays of hope yesterday. ?Every game we?re going out to . . . at least I know I?m going out to win basketball games,? Delonte West said. ?I think the team is also. We?re still trying to turn the season around. ?I think in our division, if we get Wally (Szczerbiak) back healthy and rolling and Paul (Pierce) gets back and rolling, we still have a chance to make the playoffs.? The more clear and present chance is the franchise record for consecutive losses, which stands at 13. A fall to the Pacers in Indianapolis tonight and a defeat against the Lakers at the Garden tomorrow would get the Celtics even with that mark and set up Friday?s game with the Clippers as a potentially historical evening. ?I definitely don?t want to be known for that,? Gerald Green said. ?I don?t think anybody on this team - in this organization - wants that. We want that record to stay at 13. We don?t want to increase it. ?Hopefully this next game against Indiana we can go out there and break the ice.?</div>http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...rticleid=179952Don't really know what to make of this other than: Is he really that stupid?

Good...I think Danny knows we're lottery bound but I agree with his approach in the media...he doesn't actually think we're gonna make the playoffs..just wants to make us as fans feel like we have a chance...even if its littleAnd I don't think it would sit well with the young guys if they read the paper and see Danny talking negatively about them..im sure GG is reading this right now and smiling [IMG]

I love how everybody in the entire friggen world takes every single quote seriously. If you ask Pau Gasol right now if he wants to be traded, he'll say no. I mean, they always say the right thing, and they should.

What the hell does everyone expect Danny to say? Do you want him to publicly say "Yeah, Paul would be back right now if we were a playoff team, but I'm sort of tanking right now so we can land a guy like Greg Oden or Kevin Durant."

WTF? I get heated when people ACTUALLY take these kinds of quotes seriously.

Did I say I took it seriously? No. I simply posted something that I thought would be interesting for you guys to read. I myself put no stock in it, but think what you will.

If you thought nothing of it, you wouldn't have said his:

Whatever. It really doesn't matter anyways. I said that jokingly, but I guess I need to make sure I make a point when you're reading my posts that you know it.

Guess this is a good way to maybe motivate the team but it would take a whole lot for the Celtics to turn their disastorus season around this late into the season. Danny Ainge probably knows in his mind they are going nowhere and maybe late in the season if they have a bad record will tank it.
