Pelicans are 0-7. How much longer before Davis demands a trade?

I have no idea how we could possibly get him, but he would instantly cure all our biggest problems:

    Interior defense.

Reliable 3rd (he'd be second) scorer.

    Rebounding.

I feel bad for the guy. His career is being pissed away by incompetent management. I feel much worse for him than I do Boogie in SAC. Boogie is part of the problem. AD is not. He's a guy you build a franchise around. NOP's roster sucked last year - and it's only gotten worse.

I can only hope Timmy is constantly telling how great it is to play in POR and what a great teammate Dame is. It would be nice to be on someone's short list again. When was the last time, Barkley, Pippen???

Short of trading Lillard, I see no way to get Davis. And as good as Davis is, there's no chance I would trade Lillard for him.

    He's too injury prone.

He is sooooo good that he can't seem to elevate his team to wins.

And that's not enough. I like CJ, but CJ isn't good enough to be the main piece in a trade for Anthony Davis.

I think it would require Davis asking for a trade. The TWolves held onto Garnett forever, despite never really being relevant. I don't think NO would trade Davis unless he started raising a stink.

right, that's what this all got started about tho right the 0-7 start and how long AD would last until he starts making a stink about being in NO

    Why? Who is?

I think a lot of people have a distorted sense of what teams are able to get in return when they trade their star player. Certainly CJ is at least equal to Gallinari when he was traded for Melo, or Favors when he was traded for Williams. I'm trying to think of a case where a MAJOR player was traded for another MAJOR player...

Eric Gordon isn't good enough to be the main piece in a trade for Chris Paul either, but somehow he was.

I have to disagree with you a little bit here BNB.
While I agree with you AD isn't holding the Pelicans down with his actions.
I'd say that anytime the best player on your team misses an average of what 20 games a year? That stat alone shows AD is part of the problem.
Best ability in sports is availability.
As I said last year maybe he turns it all around and plays 82 this year. But if history has shown anything that's highly unlikely.

"I’ve been in that locker room. He’s a problem"

That's a bit more concerning than other reports. When someone says they have been behind the scenes and its STILL bad?
    hmmm..

There's one major difference between AD and, say, Chris Paul with the Hornets or Carmelo Anthony with the Nuggets.

Anthony Davis is in the first year of a five-year max contract. He has no leverage. He won't be a free agent until the summer of 2020 (not sure if the 5th year is an option), or 2021. Chris Paul was going into his 7th season when the Hornets traded him. He wanted out, and the Hornets wanted to get good value for him. In hindsight, that trade was pretty crappy.

Melo was in the middle of his 8th season, and he also wanted out, so the Nuggets were also in a position of either trading him or letting him go. I think Paul had 2 years left on his deal, but I believe he had a player option after his 8th season.

Kevin Love is another example. Wanted out of Minny, was going into his last year of his contract, and yet the Wolves were able to get the #1 overall pick for him. That was Kevin Love... who I don't believe anyone would have said was a top 5 talent at the time. Maybe top 10 or top 15.

I feel for Anthony Davis. On the plus side, they will tank and get a high pick in the next draft which will apparently be stacked with talent. They should try to release Evans and Holiday for picks too, this season is a write off.

Cousins has been in fine form this season so far. Good for us, we need him in the best shape possible when he joins us in 2 months.

Yeah, Melo, Love and Paul can be compared to the situation Cousins is in right now, not Anthony Davis who still has 5 years left. The only way Davis gets traded is if Pelicans decide so, it will not be his call.

With Cousins he could force a trade and could even get to to choose the team because they will get nothing for him in a year, and Sacramento will do nothing in the next two seasons anyway. Some strong (not sure if reliable) rumours going around linking him with us in the past couple of days, will be interesting to see how it develops. We might have the assets to put a package together.

I had a feeling this might happen. New coach and new philosophy= slow start. I expect them to be a lot better int he 2nd half of the season. Might be too late though.
