So let's talk about Crabbe who looked sensational in the opener and pretty awful since. He must be depressed or maybe he doesn't care. Got his money, why try? I think we have to run more plays for him though. I don't care what this season's percentages are, we know he can shoot. Thoughts?

I think there's a logjam at the SF and he's not getting consistent touches.

He has looked very poor indeed aside from the Utah game. Really thought he would be carrying the second unit scoring wise, I remember how exciting it was to know the team would have so much depth and he was one of the main reasons. We cannot really keep an $18M player who does not perform so I reckon this is a possibility that he will line up for 76ers or Kings come the second half of season.

I think if we traded CJ Crabbe would suddenly look a lot more worth his contract. But he's asked to play 3 a lot more in small-ball lineups, and he really needs to be putting up more shots, and I'm not sure there are enough to go around.

Plus, I think he's on the floor with Evan Turner quite a lot and I don't think Turner knows/wants to get him the ball where he wants it.

The only thing consistent about the guy from Day One has been his inconsistency. I'm still struggling to understand why anyone would pay him $75M.

I saw this quote on another site: "Yet Crabbe attempts the 10th most field goals per minute on the team, besting only Shabazz Napier, Ed Davis, and Pat Connaughton."
I didn't realize it was that bad.

It's a shame Billy King isn't still running the Nets or he'd probably trade Brook Lopez for Crabbe when he's able to be traded to Brooklyn.

Honestly I'm not too mad at Crabbe I think Turner causes headaches with Crabbe's game and the spacing issues he generates.

This roster needs to step up though. Lillard is better than ever. We can't waste that..

Blazers are the 2nd most expensive roster in the NBA – 12th best overall record – 7th in the West.

    Trade has to be coming

But just think if we hadn't traded Batum maybe he'd be the guy coming off the bench with Crabbe and even inconsistent as e is Batum is a billion times better than Evan Turner.

I'm giving Turner half a season to click for the investment...I liked him in Boston before we got him...I know he's got game and it'll come..better to slump now and figure it out early than later

Very valid point. At some point this season either CJ or Dame is going to miss some games and we'll see what Crabbe can do as a starter. At that point I think we'll probably start talking about trading CJ a lot more, because he's a really damned good player but he'd be so much more valuable to a different team.

Both CJ and Dame need to play alongside bigger 3 and D type guards to really maximize their team's effectiveness. Crabbe maybe isn't ideal, but he could be good enough (if CJ is traded for a massive upgrade at another position.)

Maybe if crabbe put the ball on the floor and could create a shot, he would be worth the contract.

He actually IS doing that... but he only -gets- to do it once or twice a game aside from the opener...

It's ironic that you've started a thread and Crabbe underperforming his contract and Turner being awful, yet you try to defend Olshey when I bring it up.

I totally agree, but I would say it like... "Crabbe definitely needs to TAKE more shots". He's passing up opportunities to score, too often, and not given enough opportunities (to pass up!).

Only two things out of many moves Olshey has made. Nobody is perfect and hindsight is 20/20.
