I would rather play Harkless with Crabbe or Turner at the 3/4 in small-ball than Crabbe and Turner at 2/3 in big-ball Harkless, Turner, Crabbe at the 2/3/4 could actually maybe work
Deal Coming Soon. Please!!!! In all honesty, I think Terry needs to apply a 3 second rule for Turner. He's a good passer, but he needs to pass the ball within 3 seconds of him receiving it - then his good passing would help our ball movement.
Celtics don't have the cap for him, they would have to send us someone and honestly there is nobody there I like. I mean, Amir Johnson?
Is there any team that would trade for him? I think the only chances would be Boston or Milwaukee. Boston's star player says they really miss him. Stevens and Ainge have enough ego that they think they can make much better use of him. But Danny also likes to have cap space for his next deal; if he had to trade Amir Johnson's and Jerebko's expiring deals, I don't see him doing it even if we throw in a draft pick. He wants to add a big player via trade or free agency. He won't do this deal. And how would that help us; I don't think we would have much cap space even after those guys deals expired. Milwaukee would actually gain a little cap apace if we traded Turner for Monroe, but they would be stuck with two extra years and do they have a great need for a Turner? This would require at least one draft pick to them. Here at least we would get something useful out of the deal. But I think Monroe is more valuable as a backup to them than Turner would be; they don't take this deal either. What does that leave. 1. Try to somehow make him into a decent spotup shooter, or 2. use him ten minutes a game as a ball dominator when Lillard or McCollum need a little bit of rest on the court. Make the game simpler at those times in order to cut down his turnovers. 3. Hope that there will be an amnesty clause in the new NBA contract. I think we need to look for new solutions to the problem in the playoffs when teams double-team Lillard or McCollum. By playing Turner less, we can give Crabbe a chance to improve his ball skills. Also keep working with Plumlee to improve his midrange shot.
He would be terrible fit at Milwaukee because they need a shooter and he is anything but. They already have a small forward slash point guard playmaker and he is so much better than Turner it's unthinkable. There are a few teams that could take him. I am sure there are. Surely? Well Kings for one could use him.
OK, I'll throw in one more trade: Turner, Leonard, Crabbe, Vonleh, two first round picks for Cousins, Gay and Afflalo.
Kings might say no to that, though I would expect a yes. Would rather give them Plumlee than Vonleh and it would be better for them too. If Boston like Turner so much they can give us Crowder for him. Or Brooklyn's pick, we can throw one of our future picks to make it even. Not a chance they will part with the pick to get a player that they could have resigned last year, obviously.
I think Dame and Stotts look at Plumlee as THEIR starting center period....Stotts loves the guy...says great things about him even if he doesn't have a great game...his screens are what Dame loves...maybe Stotts sees a bit of Terry Stotts the basketball player in Mason...(and the creepy fixed it for you replies start in 1..2...3)
That would be a really tough decision. First they would have to make the decision that Turner absolutely wasn't going to work out here. Then that chances are neither Leonard or Vonleh were ever going to be the complete package. Then that they believed Cousins would give 100% all the time if he came here. It would be risky, but I would be tempted.
Wouldn't both our first and second units be stronger offensively? With Damien, CJ and Cousins on the first team, any offensive deficiencies of Aminu or Harkless wouldn't matter. The second team would be CJ, Gay, Napier and Plumlee. Ed Davis or Layman as the fifth man, depending on matchups. Who would go in with Damien when CJ comes out? That's where Crabbe would be missed, oh wait I forgot AAflalo would be coming to us in the trade. Of course, I think the second unit would be stronger just by the elimination of Turner and more Napier and Layman, so that might be simpler.
I just read an article about Boogie that said no GM wants him...he has a horrible locker room presence and is confrontational with everybody...coaches, teammates, refs, management.....not sure we want this in Portland when you could find a 20/10 nice guy out there for probably less money
Who would that be? DMC isn't even doing that. Close those (9 rbs/game). Not saying I am all aboard the Boogie train but those guys don't grow on trees.
I guess 20 and 10 was a round-up? He averages 12.7 points a game. DMC has his faults for sure but he does play some decent D. Vucevic is pretty lost at it.
I haven't followed him this season but I watched him the last couple .....saw him get 23 pts and 23 rebounds one game...I never saw him play a game without a double double....I think he's a perfect fit for Stotts system
He has the shooting range that would work well in Stotts' system. However, defense needs more of an upgrade than offense. Will Vucevic help our D?
