Watched Girl On A Train. Very slow starter. Interesting psychological thriller. Not great, but pretty good suspense thriller. It is Gone Girl Light.

Watched Arrival Saturday. Good movie. Not what you expect out of an alien coming to earth movie. Very unique. Stands on its own. Went in thinking The Day the Earth Stood Still, came out having seen a movie at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Also, when I went to see Arrival, I saw the trailer to Split, the new M Night Shamalan movie. It Stars James Mcavoy as a guy with multiple personalties, 23 to be exact, who kidnaps three young women who have try and find a way to escape. Trailer starts with the dad putting groceries in the trunk, before looking back as if at someone before the camera switches to the interior of the car, with James McAvoys character getting in and spraying the girls with some sleeping agent. All of his different personalities keep talking about one dominate personality called "The Beast" A psychiatrist is heard talking about how he can change his body chemistry.

There is supposed to be a twist at the end. Possibly that he can change his body chemistry to the point that he can change his appearance, and is in fact the dad. Or transforms into "the beast" a ugly monster.

Another possibility is that the girls "kidnapped" and trapped in his house, are actually personalities trapped in his brain/mind and are trying to free themselves and join the known 23. Or that in fact the main actress is actually the person with multiple personalities, or is the main personality that everyone is afraid of, the beast...or she is another personality and must join with the others to fight off "the beast" personality.

This film has been called a thematic sequel to Unbreakable. But, maybe it's more. Maybe this is the introduction of a new villian in the unbreakable universe. Maybe Bruce Willie's character will show up in the end to save them or maybe, the main actress is a new hero as well, and will join Bruce Willis' s character in a post credits scene.

Or maybe the movie has nothing to do with Unbreakable. Either way I hope M Night does us better than The Visit. I enjoy his movies, Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and Devil were all his best works. The Village was a dissapointment.

Took the wife to see "Keeping Up with the Joneses". Fun movie that works as a combination of stupid-funny guy humor and suburbia couples comedy. Plus, you know, Isla Fisher in lingerie.

    Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

A story about a family devastated by 9/11.

I watched 9/11 coverage at the time and despite the incredible jaw dropping disaster on tv I don't recall actually verbalizing that I wished it didn't happen. I guess because I knew it did happen so what was the point.

All these years later, while watching the movie last night I actually said to my wife that I wished it hadn't happened because this horrible movie would have never been made.

I thought it odd that I'd never heard of a Tom Hanks movie made in 2011. Now I know why.

Just saw Independence Day: Resurgence, and I gotta say I want those two hours of my life back. WTF Roland Emmerich! I understand without Will Smith, it probably shouldn't have been made to begin with. But, since you did, you should have paid more respect to the original and took the time to make a halfway decent sequel. Yet, you relegate Jeff Goldblum to comic relief duty, while also under using the plethora of returning actors. Yet, you give Liam Hemsworth the top bill, and his character/role doesn't even seem necessary to the film. And even though Will Smith wasn't in it, his characters son is, and is horribly overshadowed by Hemsworth. Should have brought back May Whitman as Pullmans daughter, the actress they replaced her with is horrible to say the least.
The script is so horribly written, feels so lazy and convoluted with the shittiest dialogue. Sela Wards role of president, is the worst of all. The shittiest representation of a female president I have seen.

John Wick. Best shoot'em up action film I've seen in years. Loved the way the cinematography and lighting as well. The dark exteriors really fit the mood of the film.

Doctor strange was awesome! Probably my favorite marvel movie to date, and could easily be on my top 15 movies overall. I'll sleep on it and wait until I see it again before I officially dub it as such.

Still, definitely a movie I felt was worth the theater price.

Next up is fantastic beasts and where to find them.

I might also go see arrival in theaters.

I see everything that comes out on bluray and just finished one of my favorites of the year. Florence Foster Jenkins.

    Hilarious, sweet and moving.

I don't pay for porno. It's a Meryl Streep movie. Hugh Grant is in it so it probably could have been a porno but it isn't.

Just watched Army of One, with Nic Cage who plays Gary Faulkner, who went to Pakistan to capture Osama Bin Laden on a mission from God, played by Russell Brand. Fucking Hillarious. I couldn't believe it was based on a true story. The best acting by Cage in a long time.

An old western staring Audy Murphy. He was terrible, well maybe it was campy.
But he was an amazing man.
