Not to mention the avoided Spencer Hawes. Too bad we didn't get Kanter, because at lease he brings something good to the table.
Hell, maybe the Kings are dumb enough to trade Gay for Turner and a Future 1st. Give Gay Turners bench minutes or see if we can flip him to New Orleans for Holiday or Evans and were golden.
Defense to me is a team skill more than individual but short answer......he'd be Meyers like on D but seems coachable
Blazers Get: Jrue Holiday Omer Asik Pelicans Get: Rudy Gay Meyers Leonard Ben McLemore Kings Get: Evan Turner 2018 NOP 1st 2018 CLE 1st
ET sucks!!! ... ... But I haven't given up on him. In an interview with Quick, in response that he has the worst +/- in league (would love a link to this stat) he pointed out that "anyone who plays with Lillard has a positive +/-. Obviously, Stotts listened to him and he got to play a lot of minutes with Lillard against Denver, and his +/- was positive for the game... even though he was 5-17 from the game: http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400899594 Current FG%: .367 (.286 from 3)
I know Turner not starting very good but he had decent last night. But Davis Crabbe and ML surely not blowing the doors off neither. CJ with the 2nd unit players going get tired of him just chucking up shots everytime he gets his hands on it and not getting others involve. That another thing what wrong with that group.
Patience is good, but it's going to be difficult for Turner to fit on this team. Opposing defenses will abandon him and make him be the guy that beats them. An open Turner jumper, especially from the 3-point line is almost as good as a defensive stop. He is not a Stotts guy, and that's not necessarily the problem. Stotts needs to be less one-dimensional.
Turner is a career .430 shooter hitting .369 of his shots. To end up at .439, he's going to have some very good nights for us by season's end. Even better nights if he ends up matching last season's .456.
I didn't mention it in my post above, but while Turner shot 5-17, the big change is that he found ways to contribute when his shot wasn't falling: 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and ZERO TOs in 29 minutes. Honestly, if he'd hit 3 more of those shots, we'd be talking star-type numbers. Hopefully, this game means he's turns the corner here.
We'll some of those shots were rebounds of his own missed shots so in a way he was like 5-14 since he scored on those three possessions anyway.
Is no one talking about the fact that Turner was playing better because Dame AND CJ were on the floor with him? Maybe he should start?
Seriously, can we start a petition to ask Stotts to never play these three together? Ever? It is BY FAR our worst backcourt combo.
