I just watched the 60 Minutes interview with Trump by Leslie Stahl and the overwhelming impression I came away with was that He seems a little "overawed" by the gravity of the office he's about to take . . . and that's fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still plenty worried about his his historic penchant for revenge, authoritarian tendencies, and his campaign pledge to "open up libel laws on the press," but hope remains.

I agree....I think he's shocked... I haven't watched that bit yet but plan to. There's a whole lot going on in the Pentagon and throughout the world that is secret for a reason...it's one of those..."Oh shit, I have to really keep my mouth shut" moments for him

I can see Obama now...."Well Donnie boy, let me show you this horrible, terrible disaster that's completely broken to you!...you can thank me later!"

I don't think he ever expected to be there so I'm sure he is in awe. I'm much more worried about the people he's putting around him than I am of him.

It's like when HCP tells us that national NBA writers know no more than posters on this board.

A lifetime of borrowing from banks to finance purchases of New York office buildings, is not the best preparation for decisions to torture everyone abroad who disagrees with American foreign policy.

I expect 4 years of pure fun. That's why I voted for him. Lots of political fighting coming. He'll drag the country into the ground. Chaos! Instead of defending boring Hillary, I can criticize him. Bring back the 1965-75 decade! Yippee!

Of course he's the first President to seem surprised he was elected.

All the previous ones were told long before election day.

Fewer people will die in the Middle East under Trump than under Clinton. Still too many, though. Now, there will be no war with Russia. As was said near the end of the Vietnam War, just declare victory and withdraw. He won't do that, though. It'll be like Obama did...winding down war in one area while surging in another. (Iraq/Afghanistan, Syria/ISIL)

The next 4 years will be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. If you protect yourself. I'm too shy to invest outside the U.S. I'm moving money from the stock market into buying a house. Under Republican presidents, home prices and bonds are where the growth is. Investors transfer their money from stocks to bonds.

As for Trump moving 3 million people out of the U.S. in his first month as promised, his own party will fight him on many issues. In 4 years, the Republican party will be a disorganized entity. He's not really a Republican, just as Bernie Sanders isn't really a Democrat.

Still have hope? Not me. Never did:

Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security To Be Notorious Racist Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Arizona voters may have ousted Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, denying him an unprecedented seventh term, but “America’s toughest sheriff” might already have another line on a new job – a federal job.

Arpaio, who is facing criminal contempt of court charges in connection with a racial profiling case that goes back years, could be on President-elect Donald Trump’s list of possible candidates to head up the Department of Homeland Security, a post once held by another Arizonan – former Gov. Janet Napolitano.

    This better?

"Several government officials said they had been told that a more incendiary choice – ousted Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio – is also under consideration. Arpaio, a vocal Trump supporter who lost his re-election bid this week, is known for forcing inmates to wear pink underwear and has long been accused of anti-Hispanic bias."

No. The Washington Post has been outed as being extremely anti-trump. Usually when I see articles name "unnamed source," I know it's purely speculation.

    Meh.

Now we're downing reputable sources because they don't fit our narrative....
