You know what's the difference this year? Im not watching the games. Why? Because it's early in the season, early in the morning (Israel time) and I don't have internet connection on my lap-top. I don't watch the games and we frankly look like shit. Time to get your act together. If this team is dependant on me to succeed it's not a good sign. I'll give you several keys: If Crabbe and Turner play the 2/3 Harkless needs to be at the 4 If we at least gave Napier a real chance to play with Dame or CJ we wouldn't have the loser coach we all know and love Ezeli and Aminu being out is a good thing. Aminu, with all due respect, is worthless. Start winning. I'll start watching the games when I feel like it and right now, you simply disappoint me
The people of Portland have been protesting the Blazers' performance. Haven't you been following the news? At least, I assume that's what they've been protesting. Why else would they be rioting?
Hasn't watched the games. Can anyone tell me what he wrote after that? I stopped reading when I saw that.
Hey, Sly... Can you ask the Blazers' front office if they can score some Blazers/S2 diapers for us and forgo the free suite for a night? There sure is a whole lotta pants-shitting going on around here. #82games
SlyPokerDog is a joke. He's been coming on here since preseason spouting off opinions that frankly don't matter when you admit you don't watch games and only look at a box score. Totally get it if you're out of the country or just don't have time...but don't come on a message board and spout off with what the team should do if you don't even watch the games. Do we look bad so far this season? Absolutely. But I think it has more to do with our inability to shoot at the rates we were last season. Our O feeds our D and when we aren't hitting shots it just makes us look even worse.
Fair Weather Fan A fan of a sports team who only shows support when the team is doing well. During hard times they usually bandwagon other teams. They basically have no real loyalty to the team, but still manage to get better seats than you at the game. Strangely they mysteriously vanish at the first sign of trouble.
I have gave the OP plenty of ribbing for his scrub-love (Montero, Fraiser, etc.) but to be fair, I don't think it even takes watching the games to understand that POR isn't playing top-notch at the moment, regardless of their record.
You really need to let go of this bizarre obsession you have that Mo Harkless can play power forward in the NBA. Others have said you need to watch some games before you start offering opinions on what the team needs to do to improve, but in this case, you don't even have to do that to see how ridiculous this idea is. All you need to do is look at box scores, stats at places like basketball-reference.com and the draftexpress measurements database. Even though you haven't watched a single minute of live action, based on your participation here and access to box scores and play-by-play logs, you should be painfully aware that our two biggest weaknesses are interior defense and rebounding. We have ZERO rim protection It's not just opposing bigs that are abusing us in the paint, its wing payers and guards that attack the rim at will. We are also the worst rebounding team in the entire league. Again, if for some reason you aren't already aware of this, look it up. Teams that give up way too many easy baskets and can't rebound for shit don't tend to fare too well in the long run. These two issues NEED to be addressed - either through changes in the rotation or a trade. Yet, your solution is to move a weak rebounding SF with short arms to starting PF. That makes ZERO sense. In fact, it takes our two biggest weaknesses and makes them worse. The way to get better is to address your weaknesses and find a way to improve them. It's not to just say fuck it, we already suck at interior defense and rebounding, we might as well give up all together. Mo Harkless is not, and never will be, a starting PF in the NBA. His TRB% of 8.6 is below average for a starting SF. It would be absolutely abysmal for a starting PF. As bad as we're rebounding as a team, every single big man we have on our roster is a better rebounder than Harkless. He's worse than Turner and barely better than Dame and C.J. Physically, he just doesn't have the size or strength to play power forward. His standing reach is 8'6.5". That's 6" less than Aminu's standing reach and he's a below average rebounder for a starting PF and gets abused on the low block by bigger PFs. Hell, I'm only 6'4" and my standing reach is 8'4". You might as well start me at PF. At least I know how to box out. Please let this go. It makes no sense at all. Harkless is doing fine at SF, his natural (really only) position. He's shooting the ball better than ever. I know you haven't SEEN that, but you should be able to figure it out from the box scores and stats. He doesn't need the ball to be effective, which makes him a good complimentary player to Dame and C.J. We do need help at PF, but no way in hell is playing Maurice Harkless out of position the answer to that problem. BNM
I'm just tired of this. To be honest, I find it hard to care anymore, not just for the Blazers, in many ways. I'm no fair weather fan, I am a Blazer for ever. But life is difficult for me right now and I can't make enough room in my heart or enough silence in my head to be able to watch Blazers games. My post may have been a bit confrontational but what I really meant to say that it's your team from now on. I would still root for you/them/us but can't bring myself to care anymore. The team plays badly not because I don't watch the games but maybe it could do better. I'm still gonna visit here, the Blazers have been part of my life since the '92 finals, even though I've never been to Portland. You guys also. I just simply don't believe anymore and can't bring myself to care. Hope you'd at least watch the games and that things would get better. Go Blazers
