Protesters don't block traffic to gain your support. They do it so you can see what it feels like to be stuck in a powerless situation. How do you respond to this situation? Are you calm and peaceful? Do you want to spend years organizing political talks about it? Nope. You want to run those protesters over. Kill them! Kill them all! If you want to kill protesters who have you stuck in traffic, imagine what you would want to do to a system that controls, harasses, and kills you... The sooner you learn perspective, the sooner you won't have to be stuck in traffic.
Ummm, I'm gonna have to disagree. I know if us pigment challenged kids ever get fucked over we'll fight like a motherfucker. I don't agree with how they follow through but I understand completely where they are coming from.
That's cool @bodyman5000 and 1 ; I respect your opinion, and I know we can disagree sometimes and have a healthy discussion, much love. my take: Protesting and blocking traffic is against the law, and does nothing to further the plight of the protester for whatever they are trying to symbolize. In fact, I would wager that all you are doing while acting a fool and blocking traffic is nothing short of a riot and should be stamped out. I absolutely have no sympathy for these people (when they commit criminal acts during a protest) and anyone that I have ever talked to says the same thing. There are only a few select hard core extremists that think otherwise.
Black people are going to be bitching about discrimination until kingdom come, because it's embedded in their culture, even though there are very very few cases of actual discrimination, and Blacks are 5x more racist than whites these days.
You know most of those protesters where white kids. Losers who didn't vote, college kids, hipsters.....those mother fuckers are not oppressed by society, give me a break.
Understandable but I just want them arrested and not run over by anyone, especially someone who antagonizes them. I tried to make it clear that I wouldn't do as they have done. My ideas are always a bit weird but if I were a BLM organizer I'd get all the black guys to dress like Chappelle's white character. We'd all hold Starbucks cups in one hand and cell phones in the other. Then we'd have signs that say "is this what we have to do so you won't kill us?" I'd want to make a point, not give someone a reason to discredit me when I'm right.
I get why you think that but I'd wager white people are more likely to keep their mouth shut as opposed to being enlightened as they pretend.
I'd say it would have been nice to have people who weren't actually the victims on the side of justice in the past. I want balance, feelings and logic. Just smashing shit doesn't work. I've gotten angry and broke shit when fighting with my wife when I know I'm right. I still lose those fights when that happens.
Protesting the results of a democratic election is lame IMO. But it's fine to do so as long as you're not harming anyone else. Most of those arrested during the riots were not even registered to vote.
I know but thank goodness we're allowed to do so, until it crosses the line anyway. There has to be a limit or people would run them over. The Purge series is good entertainment in a Sharknado way but we don't want it to be real.
They arrested the three organizers of Portland Resistance the other night. These people..... I find them extremely annoying. The leader, Greg McKelvey, comes off as someone who wants a career in politics and he is using whatever the flavor of the month hot button issue to get his name in the papers. First he was doing Black Lives Matter protests during the summer, but the turnout was low and he got zero press. Now he has the anti-Trump anger and he's riding that wave to local celebrity. The dude gets his name in the paper every day. And if you look at his "demands," they have nothing to do with Trump at all. He's using these people to self-promote. But I have to say, getting children to protest and essentially using them as a shield while you whisper in their ear what to do, and then claim that you had nothing to do with it is...... slimy. He doesn't care if his protests lead to destruction. He doesn't care if he's putting children in harms way. He doesn't care if he's fucking up our city. All he cares about is that his organization gets exposure, and by proxy HE gets exposure. He admitted to the media that he's trying to turn The Portland Resistance into a political activism organization. He's either trying to run for office locally, or he fancies himself the next big name in activism. Either way, I think the dude is garbage.
