We all know the Eastern conference is the joke of the NBA, and should be the joke of professional sports. (Even though Hockey owns that title). We know the eastern conference is plagued by very poor ownership, when do you see things changing? I remember 5 years ago reading in magazines 'when will the league swap to the east?'...it's still not happened and it's looking more pathetic by the year...Why is the east so bad altogether? Will it turn around in the near future?

I have two answersA) Shaq Trade, AI TradeB) The east will come around. It's just coincidental that the East is bad right now. Wait until Oden goes to the East, although I bet Memphis will snag him.And Hockey does own. No respect...

Eventually it will. I mean, it can't stay this bad for this long. Eventually all the high draft picks will catch up, and there will be not a shift in powers, but an evening out of talent as time goes on.

yeponce the teams like the Spurs and Suns etc etc start to get old they'll be washed up and the eastern teams who have more youthful teams like the Raptors, Celtics and Bulls etc etc start to grow and build around their cores the east will be back

Totally have to agree with playaofthe game the Spurs are old and Suns are getting older and over the next couple of years will not be the elite teams they have been in years past. The reasons the East is so bad is that many of the teams are very young and have a lot of rookies that just haven't developed yet. Once the players get a little bit older and develop the game the teams will be just as good as the West in a couple years.

Besides Nash, the Suns really aren't that old. Plus, they'll have a top draft pick this year so I don't see them dying off any time soon.As for the East, I agree with SunnyD, it's just a combo of coincedence and bad management. We just have to hope management can improve and it should only get closer to leveling out as the Eastern teams keep recieving top draft picks.

In a few years, the East will go on the top when the West goes down. Many of the top teams have old players, and they'll going to die soon. While many teams in the East have horrible teams, which can lead to nice draft picks and picking up key future superstars that can help the East out. But then in the last few years it was mostly the East that won the Title. Pistons and Heat.

they dont have the records but they have the rings..but you got LeBron Wade Felton all on the east. that are young and good.on the west.CP3,Melo, Bynum... It will end up going to the east in 3 more years. east did dominate all the way through 80-around 97.. just about all them years except a few.

The East 'dominated' because of Jordan and Bird. If not for them, Utah would have won some rings, and Showtime would have won more.

Well, alot of the teams like Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Miami have underachieved. But I still have reason to believe that it will still be a good battle come playoff time. All of these teams have potential to be very good, and in the playoffs I think it could be a very nice battle. There are no stud teams like Phoenix or Dallas, but I think there are plenty of teams who could become dangerous come playoff time.
