http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/6406426Yes, he's still quick, but he lacks the jet-speed that he had before his knee surgery. Also, the tight spins and sudden changes of direction seem to be similarly missing from his game. What else? His jumper has retrogressed, and he has a difficult time handling the ball in traffic. The inevitable conclusion is that while Stoudemire has perfectly adapted to the Suns' wide-open offense, he wouldn't be nearly as effective on any other team. Still, he is where he is, and that's good enough to help the Suns in their run for a championship by consistently ringing up impressive numbers. At the other end of the court, Stoudemire's defense was worse than ever. What an interesting/in-depth article. What do you Suns fans think about his analysis?
I don't think that it is interesting or even close to in depth. Charley Rosen hates the Suns. I find it incredibly amusing that he feels like he can judge Amare's progress based on one game. He watched the Suns play like crap, beat his Knicks, so he took a shot at Stoudemire. Fact of the matter is that with KT out, a lot more is being asked of Amare and that includes additional minutes on the floor. Amare isn't 100%; but lost a step? Hardly, and if he has then the rest of the league better watch out because you give him another summer to rest and work on the finer parts of hims game and he'll be back even stronger. What a horrible article. Even at 80%, STAT has brought so much more to the team this year. Instead of writing about that he chooses to attack Amare as a player. Once again no surprise coming from Charley Rosen. Did you know that Charley Rosen as written TWELVE BOOKS ON BASKETBALL. Can you imagine? How the hell one person could write 12 books about basketball is truly a testament to how long winded and self important some people feel they are.
I wouldn't say that he's lost a step...I'd say that he's slowly gaining it back. That surgery sets you back two years until you can get back to what you were usually and he's working on it. He has been getting better slowly.I don't know what he's talking about on his jumper and defense...his mid-range shot is almost automatic and his defense is much improved. He is playing smarter, getting in better position and has become a little bit better at shot blocking too.
This article is misleading and makes it seem like Amare can't hang in the NBA anymore. This guy might not have the jumping ability or quickness he had before the injury but he hasn't lost all of it and is still a very versatile player. He has played better than a lot of people thought he would play and has had a couple of 40 point games and is averaging 19 or 20 ppg. Once he gets more used to his knee he will be a dominating player once again.
He has lost a step, but he is still one of the top 3-4 most athletic PF's/Center's in the league. He is a bit clumsy at time in traffic, and he can't get up the floor quite as quickly as he once did. With that said, he is a better jumpshooter now than he was 2 years ago, and a much better rebounder and defender. I don't know where that guy pulled the defense worse than ever crap.
Anyone still think Amare is "struggling" to come back from his injury?February Stats40 MPG56.6% FG84.8% FT12.3 REB27.4 PTSIf he could just pass the ball a little more and pickup more than 1 block per game, he'd be a Top 10 fantasy stud. Right now he's probably more like 15-20.
Yeah, whoever this idiot rosen guy is, he's wrong. I mean, damn, it's Amare's first season back and he didn't have that much time to work on his game in the off season. Next year he should be much better.

He left off on an absolutely amazing note and I really hope he can get back to that and still be something special.
