Can the Pistons win a title with Flip Saunders coaching them? He does not inspire confidence like Pat Riley does. Or even like Larry Brown did. ? Julian, DetroitPoor Flip. In order for him to succeed, he needs a squad of mature, self-motivated players. Unfortunately, neither Rasheed nor C-Webb fit this description. Also, both Riley and Brown sport the ultimate confidence-building apparatus ? at least one championship ring. In contrast, before coming to Detroit, the Flipster's record showed only two of ten playoff series won. Plus, in addition to being impressed by a coach's bling-ness, today's players are mostly dubious about any coach who hasn't played in the league. In Saunders' case, being the captain of the Minnesota Gophers doesn't make the grade.Flip's emphasis on offense over defense is another drawback. So, when Saunders' rants, raves and chews his players out for making egregious mistakes, or not hustling, or not being prepared to play, too many of them fail to take him seriously. Moreover, since the Pistons' record this season in games decided by three points or less is only 5-6, Flip's players might also be questioning his ability to make in-game adjustments. And check out his sideline chin-twitch, surely a sign of undue psychic distress. What do you guys think of Coach Flip's coaching this season? Do you think what Charley said is pretty accurate?http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/6415364
Im a Pistons, as long as Flip is the coach of the Pistons they will never a championship or even make it past 2nd round...
They will make it past the second round? Are you dumb? They will never win a title under Flip though, I agree.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Didnt Flip get out of the 2nd round LAST YEAR?</div>Uhh yeah. I have no idea wtf The Commisioner is talking about since they definitely made it past the second round LAST YEAR.
Yall stupid, this team is totally different team then what it was last year. They dont have the motivation nor do they have the swagger and certainly cant play defense like last year. They are too incosistent. They dont have a post presence nor do they have a scoring guard that comes of the bench. This team is totally different, even if they make it past the 2nd round it wont be easy. It all depends on the matchups though.
Saunders is one of those many coaches that are just regular season guys. They play great during the season, and collapse in the playoffs. They just aren't good enough to put their teams over the edge. other guys like Van Guny, all Kings coaches, and up until this season, D'Antoni(sp).
