The players seem to love him, and he seems like a very nice guy, but lets face it, he's not a great coach. How much longer until he is officially on the hot seat? I mean, we have the worst defense I think I've ever seen on a team, they keep making the same terrible mistakes every sing game, every single year. And He's turned some players with potential into stand still volume 3 point shooters when shooting from distance clearly isn't their strength.
IMO Olshey should get the axe before Stotts, the "material" Stotts has to work with was put together by Neil, and this past offseaso IMO was a fiasco
Seriously? (Close) Runner up for coach of the year last season. You can't put him on the hot seat. Something isn't right with the team, but Stotts isn't the scapegoat. We might have to ditch his conservative defensive approach, but it's way too early to talk about canning him.
I think if you sacked him now it would be because he so overachieved last year. We just don't have the talent. This is on Olshey.
Olshey hasn't put together the best pieces, but Stotts has severely misused his players talents. I think one of the biggest things I've noticed is that his offense hasn't changed at all in the last 3 years. It's the same plays being run, and he hasn't shown an ability to change things ups. I guess I wish he gave players minutes that earn them, not players that have just been on the team longest. I don't see how Leonard should be receiving any minutes at this point. And Crabbe should be seeing minimum minutes at this point too with how inconsistent he's been .
yep. Been the playoffs 3 of his first 4 years, second round twice. That will buy him two more years at least i'd say.
Hell yeah, Stotts got 44 wins out of a team that almost every nba analyst thought would be a basement team. OLSHEY decided to give them contracts that'll put them into luxury tax territory next year. Though I have to say, I think the team could be more middle of the road in terms of defense instead of sucking.
Offense is OK, the guys just seem lost playin D, I mean we are awful. I say keep Stotts but hire a coach for D
play Slayman more, obviously. TBH i dont think Stotts wears this 100%, NO has played a strong hand in pulling this team together, and some of the scramble signings are looking like bad choices at the minute. In saying that i think we're maybe a consolidation trade away from having a legit front court player. hopefully. my god we need it. I'm happy to move CJ, Crabbe, Turner, Meyers (obv), Plum, and Aminu or any combo of them for the right trade. i dont think anyone outside of Dame and Layman are untouchable (thus far). Ed and aminu do have decent contracts tho, and mo.
Man three years ago we won 30 games before losing 9. Two years ago, midway thru the season, Terry had a top 10 defense with a top 5 offense. This is a personnel issue. until guys tune him out, you keep him there. Easy to make him the scapegoat with this flawed roster.
This. I've been saying this for the past year. His plays are old and completely predictable. Add in the fact that there's nobody on this team besides Dame, and CJ (who is inconsistent more often than Good thus far this year) who can stretch the floor, and it's all but impossible to have an open lane in the paint. And when you don't have anyone on the bench besides Crabbe (2 points tonight.....) and Meyers (our 7-1 SG who is anything but an NBA-caliber player) who you can pass out to, then that's a major problem. And it's showing. All we have is a bunch of middle-of-the-road role players, and no defined position players. And THAT is on Olshey. So they BOTH deserve the blame. Boring predictable plays + bad defense + lack of proper timeouts = Stotts. Players with no defined role and no skill set = Olshey. I don't envy Paul Allen. He's gonna have to make a decision here sooner or later.
umm, I am not at all sure Stotts' in not reason for Meyers being what we see. Apparently without ever improving.
