Thats very sad to hear and i'm sorry for you loss Sly. I lost my dog this summer and it was very tough but I can say that as tough as it was to lose her I don't regret it at all and i'm trying to cox my wife into getting another dog soon.
dogs teach you everything you need to know about loyalty. They teach you leadership, responsibility, and most of all, they can teach you how to love unconditionally. before i got my Winnie I prayed that the Lord would teach me something important with her life. I've been learning ever since. I cried more when I had to amputate her leg after she was hit by a truck than I cried when my ex cheated on me and through away our engagement. What boggles my mind is no more than 24 hours after her surgery she was running in the back yard, chasing her toy like nothing ever happened. Dogs dont get down and dont feel sorry for themselves. That was a huge lesson for me and probably why I just dont get offended anymore. My dog had a leg lopped off and continued on, so what gives me the right to get upset over some words or someone elses idiocy?
Dogs are always there for you even if you have had a crappy day. I will hug my dog Clyde (named after Drexler) when I get home.
That reminds me of a song my dad loved back when I was a kid, one of my fondest memories of my childhood was listening to this song with my dad. The lyric I was reminded of was this. "old dogs care about you, even if you make mistakes" I know that someday I'll listen to this song and cry like a blubbering mess.
Oh no... Hurts my heart... I've had many dogs in my lifetime. Losing your friend who will always be your friend is very tough. So sorry for your loss.
