Yeah Crabbe's contract is a doozy... How long until Nerlens (snicker) will be healthy and available? Is he back yet?

Just completed a D League rehab stint. Supposed to join the team later today.

We didn't have a pick, but some way, Olshey should have gotten Okafor.

He had 9 BLKs in a game his rookie year. He also had 4 STLs in that game.

Do you know the last time a Blazer had at least 9 BLKs and 4 STLs in a game? I do, and the answer is never.

You're not getting Noel for Crabbe (and his contract with the trade kicker) and the 29th pick next year. Come on, now.

I don't think we have anything that Philly wants, tbh, outside of CJ.

Maybe we can work a three way deal with PHX or MIA to send Knight/Bledsoe/Dragic up to Philly, and get back Noel.

I think the trade for Noel would be more complex than Crabbe+1st.

Imho the only trade I can see to get Noel would be: CJ for Noel+PHI '17 first round pick.

    Doubt that would get done.

We don't trade CJ for Noel. The most logical trade would be one of our SFs (Turner, Crabbe or Harkless), plus maybe one of our bigs.
I would also like us to get a decent, rotation-worthy backup guard

Philly is pretty hard to trade with, they are either looking for decent picks or stars at this stage in their rebuild.

If we do plan to only look to shed Crabbe and a late first we better get a third team involved.

He was a player slotted to go #1 overall in the draft. He went #6 because of a knee injury.
I doubt we could get him for Crabbe and change. And I'm reluctant to consider sending CJ to make it happen.

But, pairing him with Vonleh in the frontcourt could be really smart and effective in a few years! His pogo-stick blocking ability with Noah's back you down offensive game (emerging, not established yet) could be a nice duo to pair with our backcourt.

Though I'm weary of big men with injury issues, I am a big Noel fan. I watched him at Kentucky and was impressed with his energy and prowess on the defensive end. His offensive game needs work, but with ball-centric guards like Dame and CJ, I'd fine with a big that doesn't need the ball, but can be an energy and clean up guy on offense.

You have to like the potential and the haircut.

Guys, Portland would be paying Crabbes trade kicker, not philly. Also, Crabbe could theoretically waive it, but since Philly is under the cap, I don't see that being an option since there is no need to match salaries.

I'd be extremely disappointed in Olshey if he hasn't talked with every team in the league that has a good defensive big man that the Blazers might be able to acquire.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Why does Philadelphia trade Noel for Crabbe? The answer isn't "center logjam"...they could cut Noel and be better off than taking back Crabbe's horrendous contract.

They want to trade Noel for some value--he's not a murderer that they want to escape at all costs.

Are you sure about that? Had always figured the other way around. If that's the case, his value to others should improve a little bit.

The other teams mentioned in Noel trade rumors are Toronto & Boston.

When you consider what the 76ers need, a sharpshooting guard, neither Toronto nor Boston have a spare, and would need to trade their starter, DeRozan or Bradley. Probably not happening.

The dark horse team maybe Phoenix trading Knight.

It is a shame Crabbe is taking a crap so far this season, he gives us a shot at Noel. Add in Crabbe’s bloated contract, and he has negative trade value at this time. We would need to add Cleveland’s first just to get his trade value back to neutral.

If Crabbe can turn it around, he may get his starting job, in Philly. There is plenty of time for him to improve before the deadline. But I am not holding my breath.

    If I'm Philly, I'd consider Harkless + a 1st, not bloated contract + 1st.

That's why trades don't happen that often... It's actually a hard decision. As you pointed out, it's not "take a low, low 1st round pick (of which you've had a zillion) and our dude who's paid like a superstar but has only a PER of 8, for your stud."

Whose minutes do we see Noel taking? I would start with those players. Vonleh and/or Aminu might be candidates....plus our extra 1st round draft pick. This of course is assuming that he passes a physical.
