A meteor hitting Trump Tower moments before the Donald announced his presidential bid.

Doesn't the threat of not renewing assorted government contracts count as being tough?

    EDIT: adding reference

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/indiana-carrier-deal-federal-contracts-trump-232021

The deal that President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence brokered to keep Carrier jobs in Indiana likely hinges on its parent company's fear about losing business with the federal government, said an official who will play a critical role in approving the agreement.

No, be honest, you were just interested in being snarky, and now look a little foolish with some real data on the Carrier plan, even if its from "FOX SPIN".

seriously, im glad the jobs stayed. that all makes perfect sense to me. tax incentives happen in every state, in oregon, in NH, its not a mystery.

its the 1300 jobs that are leaving, and the factory that is shutting down and moving to mexico that dont seem to jive with his tough talk.

you can make excuses for him if you want, im gonna call him out on it. carrier is doing exactly what he said would be punished. and, to my knowledge, they arent being punished.

but they ARE firing people, shutting down a factory, and moving its production to mexico. so the threat seems to have fallen empty, doesnt it?

The only explanation possible is that the 1300 people who did lose their jobs were Mexicans here illegally. They are being deported (along with their jobs).

I am not making excuses for him. All I did was throw up a picture of his tweets which I thought were pretty interesting. You got snarky with me for some reason.

I think he's doing great work for not even being President yet. So until he's sworn in, my opinion of things he does will stay tempered because his ability to fully enact change is limited.

2000 jobs were to move and the factory closed.

Instead, the factory remains open and 700 jobs are not moving.

When you look for a win-win kind of deal, you have to make a deal.

So.......based on your assessment of Obama's performance in various threads, half a loaf wasn't good enough, but (to mix metaphors) under Trump it's a home run? Got it.......

All of our great presidents have been white men. That means Trump will be our greatest president.

Under Obama, 2000 jobs and the factory would have been lost. I wouldn't call that a half a loaf.

Products made outside of the US, including those made outside of the US by Carrier, will face a 35% tariff if they are sold in the US.

Products made in the US will not face a tariff.

What if the parts are made out of the country but the product is assembled in the USA?

And what if the people doing the assembly are Muslim?

Bush tried to save steel mills with tax money...in the end he saved a few hundred jobs at the cost of just under a million per job.....if I were that employee I'd have opted for a buyout...a million bucks a worker is a decent paycheck.. We actually need to build new facilities more than renovate old industrial age shit...the Germans and Japanese did pretty well upscaling their factories after massive demolition
