He's becoming a real issue. Putting the Rangers in a hole early in game after game. Dave Maloney was killing his positioning on the radio. Lundqvist is stone cold at the start of these games. It makes no sense.
And only 5 more years at $8.5M per. That's gonna crush us. Hopefully the next CBA allows buy outs again cuz Hank will have to be bought out those last years or else we will be doomed to be VERY mediocre with having all that money tied up in, what would most likely be, a back up at that point in his career. Oh wait, I'm bashing again. Nevermind. All is well! By the way, I "disappeared" because I have a 6 month old who was sick and then a wife who got sick. My postings this season have, for the most part, been positive and straight shooting. Sorry if you don't like that but at no point did I say this team is trash and can't accomplish anything. We just lack the ability to grind out wins and get ugly goals against bigger teams. Been that way the whole time under AV. It's his trademark....was when he was in Vancouver too. You take the beautiful, showy AV with the struggle to adapt to a more physical opponent that takes away the boards AV and hope that the beautiful AV wins out in a 7 game series is all.
I hope your family is well 94. That's more important than anything. As for Hank I've talked about his salary cap hit for a couple of years now. A million higher than the second highest paid goalie is only bearable if he's lights out most games. Currently he's 20th in GAA and 22nd in save percentage. He needs to play better.
Thanks man. Family is all good now. Much appreciated! I admit I was a much fiestier person last season lol. As for Hank, he needs some serious bench time or more play time. Not sure which but he's been AWFUL this year. His positioning has been a joke (as seen just now in that third goal). Granted that AV has a knack for burning out goalies, but this is insane. Hank is screwing up easy things. He 100% should be the first buy out if they include that in the next CBA. He's just not worth even $7.5M at this point. He's worth $6M now. You can't pay a guy for things he HAS done, you pay them for what you believe they WILL do. That's what the Rangers didn't do. They paid Hank for what he had DONE in terms of length and money.
As we know he has a weak defense in front of him, but he's letting 3 or more goals in more often than a contending goalie should. The shut outs are less frequent, but not entirely his doing.
He finds his game and has been solid since the third goal but you still don't want to be put in those holes early on.
Every year its the same on this board.....Hank starts slow or doesn't find his game until Feb. Goes on an unreal run. We get to playoffs and he plays awesome and we lose 2-1 or 1-0 because we can't score and posters like Stealth bash Hank for not getting us to OT scoreless. Hank will be fine
He saved this sorry ass organization for over 12 years. However, if the Russian goalie is for real I think he's going to lose his job soon.
He plays deep in the net. As he reflexes get worse with age, BA is going to have to get him to play out more and cut down the angles.
"Hey guys, don't worry about beating Lundqvist straight on, just use their dumb defenseman as bumper pool!"
Could be some truth to that Dump but until proven otherwise in the playoffs Lundqvist is not my top concern on this team
