Lately there is more and more topics based on random websites. "www.hngn.com" or stuff like that. I would be more than pleased if you could read this very well documented article about this trend that is terrible for tracking the news on the web at the moment. www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/11/15/13629660/nba-trade-rumors-fake-news-klay-thompson
...remember when Blazersland.com was the go to site for unique, one-of-a-kind legit articles? Awwwhhhhh to remember the times before this summer's writers strike and before the editor in chief (50% shareholder) bonked his head...the good ole days!
It works for presidential candidates. Fake News >>> Facts, all day every day, these days. Thanks, internet.
That did crack me up. President Obama giving an interview and complaining about fake news.....while being interviewed by a magazine that just got sued for fake news. That was a head scratcher.
I think of rumor as...well...rumor..and actually it seems that the only real leak in the NBA that ever bears fruit is the Woj tweet just before it happens...GMs can spread rumors as a distraction also. We've recently found reputable websites spinning false rumors (the election campaign comes to mind_) as well so to me....rumors aren't fake news...they're just rumors...conversation pieces...I assume nobody gives them much weight until Woj breaks the news....
I googled around once to find out more about the person who wrote one of those ridiculous fake articles, and it turned out to be some dude in the Philippines writing about trade rumors (probably made up out of thin air) on his own website and, then he would tweet out his own fake stories. I'm not positive but it may have been that one called "sportsrageous". It just seems he was trying to become internet famous by mimicking the other twitter famous NBA and celebrity gossip types.
Sportrageous, Inquisitr, Parent Herald, Hngn, they all work off each other. One said will pass a trade suggestion off as a legit rumor or bound to happen move, then the other 3 will copy it and use it as their "source". The more fake sites report the same bullshit trade "rumor", the more legit it looks and the more people buy into it.
that's also why when you google say, "bedroom design ideas" you'll get articles like "13 best bedroom designs" "15 best masculine bedroom designs" "18 cheap ideas to design a bedroom" and they will all have the same fucking images. and they use a fake source for the image or reference each other. it's called click bait and it's taken over the media. People don't even write the articles it's all computer generated to copy each other It's why i can't fucking stand any news and just live by the ostrich principal and live with my head under the fucking sand. It all boils down to advertisement money. Now these websites even check for your pop up blocker and demand you disable the pop up blocker to view their site. why? because they need that fucking ad money. I can't stand fucking advertisements. fucking Idiocracy the movie was so accurate it's scary.
