They'll always come up when the team isn't winning (which happens to be every year lol). On one hand, a person could understand why Pierce would want out of this situation (at age 29, just closing in on his prime years with a team that won't be "ready" for another 2-3 years), but at the same time... give me a break. If Bill Reynolds really did hear Paul Pierce rumors, it was from another reporter who is just trying to build up another bogus story because the Celtics aren't winning. Your thoughts on all of this?
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." ive heard this every year...why would he wanna leave if he signed an extension in August?he obviously knows something we dont ..we're all on the outside looking inif he wanted to get out he would've tested free agency after his contract expired and not signed an extension
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." What do I think: I think he's an idiot. I won't believe anything until something happened.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." Jerry West is an idiot if he turned down Pierce because that's a far better offer than anything else he's going to get for Gasol. I doubt there are any truth to these rumors. Just yesterday there was a report that #34 was untouchable. Reporters need better sources before they start publishing crap.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." I wouldnt trade Gaso for PP. Why would we trade a star for a star, and the one we're getting we dont even need(a SG/SF) AND is older. Jerry West was smart to turn that down.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." You guys are misconstruing the quotes. That is not saying that Ainge's offer INCLUDED Pierce, it's saying that Pierce is reportedly on the block... and a brand new bullet states that we made an offer for Gasol but we were turned down. Ainge knows that it would make zero sense for both organizations to do a Pierce for Gasol swap, that wasn't offered. The whole idea of getting Pau Gasol would be to bring in another guy to pair up WITH Paul Pierce.

The Grizz have nobody of an All-Star caliber at that position. Sure you have Rudy Gay but he's a rookie and needs time to develop. You're dead last in the entire league; I'm pretty sure you need anything and everything. Why trade star for star? Here's a thought, maybe because you're not going to get full value since everyone knows he's on the block. You'd prefer a young role player and a draft pick that may or may not pan out? If you get the #1 pick this season then you'd be able to pair Pierce with Oden. That's a pretty good combo that would make Memphis an instant playoff caliber team. Gasol may be younger but he's a soft PF/C. I mean just look at all the guys better than Gasol at his position: KG, Duncan, Nowitski, Brand, O'Neil, Boozer, Howard, and maybe more. The only SG's that may be better than #34 in the league are Kobe, Wade, and Arenas. Then when you consider that this year's draft is filled with big men it makes even more sense. I don't want the Celts to trade Pierce because he's the only stabilizing force on the team. As we're seeing now it's complete chaos without him.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." ^Dude, why would they trade a star big man for a star SF/SG when they have young talents at that position that they want to develope? If they are going to trade for a SG/SF, it would be one that is under the age of 24. They arent going to trade for a star that hasnt done anything with his team in the last 5 years, who is indeed older than Gasol. It just wouldnt make sense...
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." And we're rebuilding, we let Rudy develope. Its already known you think Memphis is a "horrible" franchise even though Memphis has done more than Boston in the past 3 or 4 seasons. And are you calling Deng or Gordon a role player? AHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Gasol isnt soft, MAJOR misconeption. Any player in the league will tell you that. And Pierce isnt helping your sorry ass team..how is he gonna help us?btw, our SF is avergaing 18ppg, 6 rpg and 4 apg....and four 3's per game.

AHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!</div> "AHAAHAHHAHHA" yes, Ben Gordon is a role player. Deng is going to be an All-Star caliber player in this league , but Gordon is a role player. His role is to score and come up big in the 4th quarter, whether he starts or comes off the bench.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." Well, this has nothing to do with the topic...but tell that to the people who think Ben Wallace ISNT a role-player.

Ben Gordon IS a role player. He isn't a great defender, distributer, rebounder, leader, shot blocker, etc. He's a scorer, and that's all his role is.
Re: Bill Reynolds: "I'm hearing that the Celtics are trying to move Paul Pierce." okay...I didnt disagree with you on that. You made a point he is.......but I have a different definition on what a role-player is...different time and topic though....

You mean to tell me Deng and Gordon are franchise players? And since when are the Grizz getting either of them? Chicago has not offered them as a package deal. Deng is a SF and Gordon a SG, so it looks like you want someone at that position regardless of how many points Mike Miller is averaging on a last place team. Antoine Walker and Al Harrington scored more than that in Atlanta and those Hawks teams were better than this Grizz team. Pierce is better than everyone that was just mentioned, so obviously he'd help. But if you want to build a team around Rudy Gay and Mike Miller be my guest. I'm sure that'll get you past the 2nd round real soon. So Gasol isn't soft despite what all the scouts say? I guess I'll have to talk to players like you do more often to get that kind of info.Pierce isn't playing, so of course he's not helping the Celtics. The same could be said about Gasol, but he came back and your team still sucks horribly.
