Unless he's upset one of Turner, Ezeli or Quarterman might get traded, it's a little soon for him to be worrying about that. He can't be traded for over a month. So, anything he's hearing now are just the same unfounded runors that are always being bandided about by the click bait rumor farm sites.

The trade restriction on those three players lifts on 12/15. The trade restriction on Meyers, as well as Crabbe and Harkless lifts on 1/15 and the trade restriction on C.J. lifts on 1/27, but he is still subject to the poison pill provision.

Maybe he reads the forum and sees how he's been talked about.

He's been trash this whole season. His mind can't be in a good place. Understandable.

Why did he even agree to this in the first place?

I think when you do group sales sometimes some of the players are obligated to take a photo with the group for a meet and greet, all part of the fan experience. I know when Mike Dunleavy comes to Portland, Jesuit always arranges a group buy/meet and greet with him.

I can think of 41 million reasons.

I get that money can't buy happiness, but I know if I was in my mid-20s and new myself, my family and any future offspring were set for life, I'd find it hard to get too upset about anything.

Don't get me wrong, I'd play my ass off to earn that money, but I'd be grateful for every penny. Especially, coming from an impoverished background, like Meyers.

I think he meant "why did he agree to the meet and greet?"

Not "why did he agree to the contract?"

I have a feeling we will end up trading with Dallas for Andrew Bogut. Portland needs to start looking for veteran help. Not young guys. The Blazers are supposed to be in the win now mode.

Oops my bad. I was thinking big picture.

For this particular event - he was probably pressured by someone in the organization.

    Paraphrasing...

Portland has a lot of assets and a lot of tradeable assets. They have the longterm view in mind. They're not defending well and Festus hasn't played. I don't know if they'll keep Crabbe on 18 mil for his full 4 yrs with Dame and CJ already there. Maybe they can move Crabbe next summer. They're not gonna catch GS, LA, or SA this year, so just keep building assets.

Neil HAD to match Crabbe and bring Leonard back. They can go in next summer, and Crabbes 3 yrs, 54 mil will look a lot more moveable.

More non Blazer stuff: Teams have looked at Noel, but the intel they get back on him off the court and how he carries himself has not been good. He doesn't have much value.

Yeah, despite playing awfully to start the season, and not liking Crabbe's contract for our team, I never viewed him as untradable. And now that he's hitting shots he has value around the league. Ditto Turner. Ditto Meyers, despite some of you saying he has negative value. All of our players are moveable, what remains to be seen is how valuable they are. As much as I want roster changes NOW, I do agree that it might behoove us to wait until summer to maximize value and have a better idea of what direction the team should take (ie, trade CJ?).

To be fair that could just be GMs trying to kill his value even more, but either way, I would still go after him, I just wouldn't offer Crabbe. If you can get Noel for a protected first, that's a risk worth taking imo

For a lot of people (myself partially included) getting out from Crabbe's contract is half the point of the trade. But I do agree that, at this point, Crabbe is probably more valuable than Noel and we should explore the possibility of the trade without including Crabbe.

Ezeli is better than Noel IMO because he is bigger. He has a slightly longer wing and a slightly shorter total reach, but the main difference is weight. We need more bulk under the hoop or they get pushed away. Is Noel even 230?

Both have injury issues and although Ezeli's seem to be a bigger issue at the moment, I would still rather add to the center by committee by getting a really big guy who can play 20 minutes a game. Like Woz alluded to, we are not winning the championship this year regardless so maybe we draft some big Euro that every other team seems to have but us.

Problem with Ezeli is even when he's healthy, he's still just a backup type player. His contract isn't too great either if we're looking at it long term. Point is, Ezeli shouldn't hold the team back from finding a better, or at least a more permanent solution.

I am fine with a center by committee. Three guys who can start or come off the bench. But Ezeli rebounds and defends. He has a 7'6" wing. If he was healthy he would be permanent . But he is not healthy so I agree you don't stop looking for someone better. (or just as good but healthier)

Ok but how permanent would Ezeli be, even if he were healthy? He's a FA after next season.
