It seems to be coming more popular with swing men and combo guards. Guys like Kobe, TMac, AI have all slowed down on scoring to try to get others involved. And since they have been in the league LeBron and Wade have been great play makers. This could be a new generation of players who are great scorers that give up the ball often. Guys in college, high school, and younger playing on the street will try to be like them instead always trying to score first.
People are realizing that they can't do everything themselves and expect to win. Also, the assist has returned as a "Flashy Play" in the NBA.
Yeah, I agree. I like to pass more than to shoot...I find it more fun. And Nash helps it, being hes getting 10 assist a game and 2 MVPs is catching peoples attention.
We are seeing these guys grow. That's what it is. Jordan went through it, now these guys are realizing it now too.
I like the passing thats going on, its making almost every team dangerous. before there were certain teams who you always knew who was going to be shooting the ball. of corse Zach Randolph is still the blackhole of basketball.
I'm glad people are recognizing Kobe can pass now. I mean, I never considered him a ballhog, but I'm glad many people stopped thinking of putting Kobe under that ball hog category.

He is a team player now, watch a Lakers game and you'll see.

I don't know if Kobe is a team player. He is sort of, and sort of not. It's tough to explain, but he is improving in that aspect, Ill give him that.
I disagree that all of a sudden they are starting to become great passers. They simply are now on teams where they don't have to do scoring like the used to. Kobe averaged 6APG before, and this year his team is reacting better to him taking over only when necasary. T-Mac has been at or near 6APG a few times. AI started to rack up big assist numbers when he was moved to PG a few years back, but still scored over 30PPG with Sixers. Many swingmen are great passers, but their scoring and incstincts to take over with scoring sometimes overshadow it. Kobe and T-Mac are 2 of the most underrated playmakers in the league.
I like the more passing happening, and it seems to be having an effect on people, I think its had an effect on me because I see myself passing more.
yeah the more passin that they are doin are affectin lil kids, changin the mindset of em to 'passing is cool' instead of 'im the best I get the ball all day'.oh and these swingmen have always bin great passers, its just that their game is maturin nd they learnin 2 trust their team mates.
I still see a lot of selfish players but maybe it has improved slightly. The suns probably woke everyone up on what good passing can do.
It's true. Guys like D Wade, Lebron, TMac, Kobe are all great passers. Kobe sometimes doesn't pass as much as he should, but he is a good passer. It's good to see great passing along with a ton of scoring. I really admire DWade's game. From watching him this year, I think he is a better passer than Lebron.
Passing is good.. especially when you make quick, good passes. It gets the defense of balance and good to get a open shot or penetrate and hope they foul you going to the rim.
Man, I've became the same way a lot too. I almost always pass now except if my teammates can't do it.I think over the years the mentality to pass came over those players. I don't think it's coincidence that they are all at the midway point of their career or around there. As for Wade and LeBron, well it was always like that with them so it's different.
