In the past, teams have had the ability to sign one player to a five year extension if they were coming of their rookie contract. Portland did this with Damian Lillard. In the new CBA, teams can now do this with two players. So I was wondering. Since CJ's contract extension starts next summer (after the new CBA takes place), is it possible to add that 5th year onto his contract, which they couldn't do before? I know there's a few CBA experts and here, and I'm wondering whether a contract extension signed before the new CBA was ratified but signed to take place after the new CBA is enacted is able to be amended under new rules put forth by the new CBA.
