My fear= Dame not making it due to Portlands record despite ridiculous numbers. I fucking hate that argument. "Record isn't good so uhhhh no all star vote for me". Records good means basically, "lets just find the three best guys off that team and make them all stars even if averaging 10 points a game". The west guards are insane. Dare I say Dame somehow gets screwed over again

I figured Russia would get 50% of the vote.

This is great news and will have a huge long term effect on HOF recognition.

My impression is that the "panel of basketball media" often follow that train of "thought", and are more likely to do so than the fans. The players, less than the fans, and more on merit.

As long as Dame is healthy, he will be an all star. No doubt this year. 28/6/5. On good percentages? No way he is left off.

Well in your opinion how do you think it should go? Which players should Dame trump that you fear will get in instead of him?

Interesting, but it really changes what an all-star is.

"Star," by definition, is what the fans make of a player, no?

Should have just limited to one vote per fan with some sort of basic aptitude test. Just something like, if Player A has been injured and not played in a single game all season, would you still vote for them to start in the All Star Game?

Lillard should make it fairly easily. There's no Kobe Bryant Memorial Spot on the team this year.

West All Star guards should be CP3, Westbrook, Curry, Klay, Harden and Dame. Can anyone make an argument against this? Unless they only go with 5 guards. Then Dame is out.

I honestly don't think Dame's chances are great...too many guards ahead of him and that suits me fine...another repeat of the fuck you post allstar snub tour as Sly mentioned somewhere is perfect..rest his foot...get some sun and surf in

That's exactly it. "All Star" is a popularity contest, completely divorced from how good a player is on the court. There may be some loose correlation between ability and stardom, but this exhibition game has nothing to do with ability, and everything to do with popularity in the eyes of the fans. Some fans want the all star game to be based on performance, which it is not. If the league wanted an exhibition game based on ability, it could let the players and coaches choose All NBA teams, and play a game at the end of the season. But I doubt the players want that. The All Star game is a marketing tool, to hype their product to casual TV commercial watching fans.

There's the All-NBA teams to recognize ability, as you say.

Like I said, "Star" implies what the fans will pay to see.

Honest question. What do you think means more to the HOF voters.

All NBA nods or All Star nods?
