So Trump wants a Japanese "Soft Bank" (shady name?) to hand out a 50 Billion $$$ stimuli's job growth package, which is 10 Million per those 50,000 jobs he wants to create or get back, with more outrageous hidden Federal tax credits, I'm sure....

If Trump keeps up pace with his approach to 'Carrier', he will break the Nation before he ever gets a chance to make America Great Again, in lieu of broke first....just my 2cents, for what it's worth, and I hope I'm wrong....

Meh....He's playing a game. Look my prediction here is this is about fucking with the Chinese. If you are going to divide the planet between 2 spheres of influence, we've got a better shot with Russia because they have resources and the Chinese do not.

Given the quality of advisors he has, I believe this is the initiation point if a strategy that will not be appreciated for quite some time. I'm gonna reserve judgement and see how things unfold. Trump loves to set up nay sayers to look like asshats later.

my prediction is this is about Putin and his crooks, trying to get in bed, and are already in the head with Trump.

Trump's #1 flaw, weakness, his arrogance, unable to distance himself, from his own interests, and pompous self back patting. Trump is unable to see this ordeal as much bigger than Trump, much bigger than just the US and Russia.

From what I've seen, China is more a player than Russia. Chinese Intelligence dwarfs Russia, and its cold war cronies. Russia is trying to reclaim itself, while losing control of past influenced USSR fed 3rd world nations, as well as the eastern european bloc-.

China will get the resources they need, and have a deeper black network, ten times that of Russia's. Too many soldiers to run a monster in size bigger than Russia, bigger than the US; tho' both Russia and China lacking in tech by a generation.

Any strategy by now out of the Fed Govt, with Trump at the helm, thinking they can use this as an opportunity to get deep into Russian interests; let alone cyber inroads into Russian Cyber World's, to gain any foothold, is a child's fantasy.... but then Trump has proven his psyche is fragile, often of a 5 yr old.

Russia will exploit Trump more than the US can massage Russia, they've already done it, and proved such.... this is the point...!

Trumps gonna' be a sitting duck, that thinks he's a decoy. To engage directly is a fool's folly in War.... especially cold dark secret hidden stealth information and cyber war, let alone the international financial world, and interests....

Tho' this world's 3 powers, would like to eliminate one, make this a world of opposing powers. I believe we will die with a 3 Power Tri-archy ruling and killing this Planet...

For Trump to take this lightly, when it goes directly to the heart of Cyber War, the next Pearl Harbor, won't come from China alone, where Russian has already been caught on our mainland, red handed, going not beyond what China has done from afar, distant and close to the US, but not been directly caught on our mainland.

China also has a larger global empire, capable of working directly within the US, without stepping a foot on American Soil. Chinese existing Tech is equal to Russia's, while their productivity levels exceed Russia's by far. Finally Chinese Tech, $$$ funding, Programs, have caught up to those of its 2 opponents. However neither Russia or China is a generation near the US in their newest Technologies of ever thing under the Sun, (less the pharmaceutical chemistry world I wouldn't know, yet would say when Physics going forward, come into play, China is 30 years behind the US), as well as numerous generational prior tech's constant revisions.

In cyber war, one shouldn't have to leave their seat.... yet the fool, who can't sit still will, and does fk up, usually by taking deeper issues than the fool knows, too lightly, trying to shine in the glory can leave one with a nasty burn...

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-pres...response-russian-malicious-cyber-activity-and

This can not be taken lightly at all.

I don't see any difference b/t Russia or any one else hacking into US IT Sys, or Security Breaches, any different than breaking into Fort Knox, or stealing the most elite, and deepest darkest US Intelligence or Defense Sector, and Nuke Secrets

    Executive Order 13964

The original Executive Order focused on cyber-enabled malicious activities that:
    • Harm or significantly compromise the provision of services by entities in a critical infrastructure sector;
    • Significantly disrupt the availability of a computer or network of computers (for example, through a distributed denial-of-service attack); or
    • Cause a significant misappropriation of funds or economic resources, trade secrets, personal identifiers, or financial information for commercial or competitive advantage or private financial gain (for example, by stealing large quantities of credit card information, trade secrets, or sensitive information).

The increasing use of cyber-enabled means to undermine democratic processes at home and abroad, as exemplified by Russia’s recent activities, has made clear that a tool explicitly targeting attempts to interfere with elections is also warranted. As such, the President has approved amending Executive Order 13964 to authorize sanctions on those who:

    • Tamper with, alter, or cause a misappropriation of information with the purpose or effect of interfering with or undermining election processes or institutions.

Using this new authority, the President has sanctioned nine entities and individuals: two Russian intelligence services (the GRU and the FSB); four individual officers of the GRU; and three companies that provided material support to the GRU’s cyber operations.

    • The Main Intelligence Directorate (a.k.a. Glavnoe Razvedyvatel’noe Upravlenie) (a.k.a. GRU) is involved in external collection using human intelligence officers and a variety of technical tools, and is designated for tampering, altering, or causing a misappropriation of information with the purpose or effect of interfering with the 2016 U.S. election processes.
    • The Federal Security Service (a.k.a. Federalnaya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti) (a.k.a FSB) assisted the GRU in conducting the activities described above.
    • The three other entities include the Special Technology Center (a.k.a. STLC, Ltd. Special Technology Center St. Petersburg) assisted the GRU in conducting signals intelligence operations; Zorsecurity (a.k.a. Esage Lab) provided the GRU with technical research and development; and the Autonomous Noncommercial Organization “Professional Association of Designers of Data Processing Systems” (a.k.a. ANO PO KSI) provided specialized training to the GRU.
    • Sanctioned individuals include Igor Valentinovich Korobov, the current Chief of the GRU; Sergey Aleksandrovich Gizunov, Deputy Chief of the GRU; Igor Olegovich Kostyukov, a First Deputy Chief of the GRU; and Vladimir Stepanovich Alexseyev, also a First Deputy Chief of the GRU.

In addition, the Department of the Treasury is designating two Russian individuals, Evgeniy Bogachev and Aleksey Belan, under a pre-existing portion of the Executive Order for using cyber-enabled means to cause misappropriation of funds and personal identifying information.

    • Evgeniy Mikhailovich Bogachev is designated today for having engaged in significant malicious cyber-enabled misappropriation of financial information for private financial gain. Bogachev and his cybercriminal associates are responsible for the theft of over $100 million from U.S. financial institutions, Fortune 500 firms, universities, and government agencies.
    • Aleksey Alekseyevich Belan engaged in the significant malicious cyber-enabled misappropriation of personal identifiers for private financial gain. Belan compromised the computer networks of at least three major United States-based e-commerce companies.

absolute nothing will surprise me when it comes to Sir Donald, the new king of America. He's in

...wait, Russia "has resources and the Chinese do not."?...now that's funny.

...and oh yeah, wasn't Trump the same one who said the Russians didn't try to tamper with or influence American politcs?

...and wasn't Trump the one who claimed global warming is only a scam made up by the Chinese?

and here I could of swore in early high school biology, the teach said, in due thousands of years, as China's populace grows, eventually the entire populace of World, will be dark(er) skinned, and have slanted eyes, I swear this to be true, no offense of any sort.

Guess He meant Mongolian.... in that case, China comes out on top, long term, like real long term....? Won't have to worry about India, Pakistan, or the Mid East, cuz they'll be drinking China's Himalayan Natural Spring Uranium/Plutonium enriched mineral water/spirits.....makes one glow in the dark, that is how well it works to purge the body of poisons....

Your not counting National Resources as Natural resources. I see people, billions of 'em, most as natural national resources.....

You know: "people are our #1 Resource", and/or asset...?

As he does in real life Trump will appoint the best people in the various departments, delegate what needs to get done and let his people do their jobs as they've done in real life. I think with trump people will be pleasantly surprised at the job he does after Obozo's follies. And I hope isis and whoever else fucks with the USA isn't expecting trump or his generals to broadcast their strategies, dates and times they'll be implemented. Just hope obama stays on vacation till the 20th and doesn't let another couple of thousand convicted criminals out of prison.

...uhhh, excuse me, please explain then why Russia's economy is where they are as compared to China?...and moving forward China is growing faster than anyone and is projected to draw even with the US within the next 10 years.

...again Tote, you need to get up off your knees and stop blindly fellating Trump at every turn.

Fellating? Lol, I don't think so. I'm just being open minded and not pre judging based on my personal bias that the man is a pig.

I'm just not letting my biases get in the way. Russia does in fact have tremendous resources. Their economy has suffered due to sanctions, their antogonism if the West and poor globalization mgmt.

China only has cheap labor that is no longer the cheapest.

Look Ron if you want to learn something useful, I'm happy to share knowledge from first hand experience doing business in both Russia and China.

What Trump is setting up between both these powers is in fact the right way to approach these negotiation strategies. You don't have to like him to recognize this.

    ...you're "open minded"?... and you're not "pre-judging"?

...lmao...what you really mean is "flip flopping"...I seem to remember a time when you were bashing Trump every chance you got, just like me. I also remember you having a man crush on first Rubio and then jump to Cruz and now to Trump...your allegiance seems to vary according to the prevailing winds du jour...so please, just stop with your revisionist history BS.

...and please, don't presume to think your "knowledge" has some sort of self anointed insight that others are somehow devoid of...there's a reason why you're where you are and where real leaders are...please, just get over yourself.

...and please, for once, instead of simply mindless spouting platitudes, try actually supporting your "suppositions" with something factual and tangible such as actual data instead of your supposed other-worldly experiences that you keep bringing up and have absolutely nothing to do with the scale of the things we are discussing. You're a working hack who's posting on a message board like most of us are so don't try to make yourself into something you're not.

...you flat out said that Russia "has resources and China does not" and then when confronted conveniently changed it to "natural resources"...sorry pal, but that's not only inaccurate, it's laughable. China's economy as it is now and moving forward is light years ahead of Russia's...and if you think Russia is our friend you're also mistaken about that, because they're not.

no doubt China has but 12% of the World's natural resources, with the USA and Russia at 1st, and 2nd, and China 3rd in proportions. Sure China with its bazillions of peeps, per capita may not have as much, yet they've got more than enough for a Super Power, that's always seeking more....

    http://www.indexmundi.com/china/natural_resources.html

    http://www.indexmundi.com/minerals/?country=cn

    https://www.reference.com/geography/natural-resources-china-71be3c2d2dd6b10b#

China is a large country with much of its land dedicated to farming. Approximately ten percent of its rich soils is farmland. The country produces wheat, corn, rice and many other cash crops for exportation.

Water is another vast resource in the country. China is ranked sixth in the world in total water supply, which it utilizes to produce electricity via the hydropower industry. The country is also rich with mineral deposits. In total, there are 150 minerals found in China. The country is even ranked number one in the world for having the most deposits of 12 different minerals. It is considered one of the only countries in the world with such a large variety of minerals.

China has ample biodiversity in its plant and animal life. Many of its plants and animals are very rare throughout the world. To protect its plant and animal resources, the people of China have built many nature reserves. The country also has a rich supply of oceanic resources, utilized for aquaculture, and exports many of its seafood goods.

    Natural resources
: coal, iron ore, petroleum, natural gas, mercury, tin, tungsten, antimony, manganese, molybdenum, vanadium, magnetite, aluminum, lead, zinc, rare earth elements, uranium, hydropower potential (world's largest), arable land.

Definition: This entry lists a country's mineral, petroleum, hydropower, and other resources of commercial importance.

Source: CIA World Factbook- (This page was last updated on October 8, 2016).

Then there is another issue of global power.... one that doesn't matter much what quantity of resources another has, when they've got more than enough, to keep on destroying their own ecosystem, if not their nation, our own too, and/or the rest of the Planet...

Nuclear proliferation, imo, is still our #1 overall, long term threat, from any source, not limited to China or Russia....

Another problem: China has done nothing to stop the flow/sales, distribution of deadly chemicals, knowingly sold to American Designer Drug labs, (rather garages), and when asked about it, boast they know they're killing young American kids, too stupid to know better....

    http://www.nextbigfuture.com/2016/12/jerry-pournelle-talks-about-chinas.html

Jerry says, the question becomes, given the magnitude of this, why is it a surprise? We have 21 expensive intelligence agencies; not one of them knew the Chinese orbited an EM Drive? Of course it will be a while before we can do orbital tests. We have no rockets. That’s preparedness. Perhaps Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos can help? This is a signal larger than Sputnik. If the Intelligence Community knows about Russian hacking, why doesn’t it know about Chinese testing of a reactionless drive?
