He needs to sit for a few games since it doesn't really matter the way they are playing anyhow. Don't play on a sore ankle and make it worse like last year when he started to get plantar fasciitis and it got the point he couldn't even practice.
I have to agree this is shaping up as a throw away season. No need to push our star player when he's injured. Dame though will not be put in a corner That's not to say we should "tank". We should not. The Blazers should try to compete every game, and pursue any trade that improves the team going forward. At the current pace and performance however, the losses may take care if themselves. No tank needed.
unfortunately I don't think we need to "try to tank" the way we have been playing, it seems to come naturally this year. If Lillard or CJ goes down then its tank city just by itself.
are any of those PG taller ones that can play D and might be ready to contribute next yr? If they are then trade CJ if we get a top 5 pick
I said that in another thread and target Josh Jackson a SG/SF combo with potential elite defense and above the rim offense with a good outside shot and improving handles. Projects to be the next Kawhi http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/for-those-that-think-we-should-tank.307710/
The trouble is that we're having the season we were supposed to have last season, and we're only surprised and upset because we were spoiled by last season.
Last year we had some veterans that had leadership that would get some one face if they didn't give a shit about effort. I am not saying Dame not a leader but a different type. You just can't just a bunch young basketball players without older veterans to straight out the young players when they starting to go half ass.
Strawman much? Please show me where I ever said anything about passing on Durant. Please show me that. If you can't, then please lay off the passive aggressive strawman bullshit. I expect that from the site trolls, not the site owner. You said Durant was our Tim Duncan. I disagreed and provided data to support my opinion. I find it highly ironic that you recently accused me of ignoring half the game when comparing Crabbe to C.J.: And now you're doing the exact same thing when comparing Durant to Duncan. Duncan is one of the all time great defenders in NBA history. Durant has been in the league 9 seasons and never made any all defense teams or received even a single 3rd place vote for DPOY. Who's ignoring half the game now? I've said repeatedly that Durant is a great player, just not an all time, 2-way great player like Tim Duncan. I don't think it's an insult to say someone is not as good as a guy who is considered the greatest to ever play his position. Would I pass on Kevin Durant, sure I would, without hesitation, if the choice was 20-year old Kevin Durant or 20-year old Tim Duncan. But, since there isn't a Tim Duncan, or even a Kevin Durant, in the 2017 NBA draft, the point is moot. BNM
It about leadership it not about how they play both guys are gone where are we at now go figure. Lot to do with what happen in the locker room. Kaman might not play much but the bigs look at him for guidance. Last 2 years we lost big man coach and kaman not here this year and now look how's the big play. So don't tell me those 2 veterans didn't give our young guidance. Who we got this year no one don't tell me Dame because he not that type of leader.
Guys that don't play cannot be counted as "leaders." You're vastly overstating the impact these two had on the team at best. Especially since you weren't in the locker room and have no idea if they were vocal or not.
I agree. Joe Posnanski (best current sportswriter, in my opinion) recently wrote this: I'd imagine that's true in sports, in general, not just baseball. It's a type-A personality industry and whether or not it fully makes sense, you need to have sufficient game to have sufficient influence, usually.
