Incorrect. There are many ways they can create cap space. Nash has one year left on his contract. He will be pretty movable next season on a one year deal. Girardi will be bought out. It's a matter of how badly they want to clear up cap space. Klein could be dealt as well.
Well yeah, obviously they can create the space if they want to. But do we really want to sign him for much more than 5.5 even if we had the space? I dont.
I would. To me, Yandle always had a crappy shot and was horrible defensively. Shattenkirk has had good and off years defensively but his shot is very good. More importantly he's a righty. Yandle wasn't. Like I said. It depends on moving Staal. Staal isn't playing bad. We just don't need a lefty vet when Graves, Skjei and McDonagh will be manning the left side for years.
Duchene in a Hayes deal is the first thing I would be working on. Duchene is 61% on draws. He's not fitting in with the Av's and he fits the speed system of this team perfectly.
I'm not sure though if STL will even be willing to move him at the deadline if they think they're a SC threat which it looks like they could be. It would probably take an overpayment to get him out of there this year.
Another option to investigate is a deal around Hayes and Klein and see if you could get Faulk from the Canes. They are loaded in the minors with high level defenseman. They are painfully thin in wing and they lack size. They also need some vet leadership for the young kids they have on defense. Faulk is a righty. I've never been highly impressed with his defense but it's at least average and his shot is big. Hayes, Klein, Hrvik and a 3rd might get it done for Faulk as the Canes can deal from a position of strength. They also have nothing in the system in goal. Their top goalie prospect Nedeljkovic stinks. He's highly overrated. So they might serious want a Halverson in a deal with Hayes and Klein. Halverson is about to take off in the AHL if the crap team he's on can pick it up.
Sadly. Gorton will probably wait until the trade deadline, panic, overpay as usual for a guy that isn't the difference and piss away more of our picks.
Hmmm. Zborovskiy is a righty. I thought he was. That is great news. Stupid internet hockey DB has it listed wrong. Well, that is a big plus for the organization.
They fixed the mistake now. He's listed as a righty. So figure him in a couple years, plus Shatty. Much better. Hopefully Skjei can fill in on the right. Though, I still warm to the idea of moving Hayes in a deal for Faulk. I could care less if Vesey is his buddy.
