It's the new and improved way of watching a DVD movie. I have a Blue Ray Player and in my opinion it's not worth the $1,000 price tag. That's a ridiculous amount of money to pay for something that isn't all that great. The player is 1,000 bucks and the movies are $30-40. I can't speak for everybody else, but I have one and I don't think it's worth it.It's basically a movie with HD and surround sound.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

I would rather just keep my DVD Player than go thru the hassle of getting all that sh*t and paying so much for it
Yeah, you need an $80 HDMI cable in order for it to look good. We bought an HDTV and then we find out that you have to buy something else to make it HD even though you already payed for it. People are a joke nowadays, they are always coming up with something to make you spend money.
I think for right now, it's not worth getting at all. The amount of blu ray movies being put out compared to dvds is still in favor of dvds. Blu-ray discs still got a ways to go before they start phasing out dvds like dvds did to vhs. Basically if you get a blu ray player and discs, it's like those guy who paid 800-1000 for a dvd player when it first came out. You basically overspend to have a product in it's infancy. Not a smart move.
Its a dvd with 50 gb which just allows for more compacity for more detail video.just like the ps3 games are soon going to be filling up the whole disc.
