I'd liked to of seen Ringo mention each Eagle member since the 71-77 1st group of Eagles I; with all members recognized by name at at least; Randy Meisner mentioned, as well as Bernie Leadon, since the great late Glen Frey was deceased but of course mentioned. (Meisner and Leadon were no Glen Frey, yet each made the group possible from the beginnings)

.....even tho' Meisner could of never made it in one piece mentally, or physically; and Leadon, not sure how he took it, after re-joining his (2nd re-knowned band) the Eagles on the World History Tour of 2013. Both RM and BL, were invited to join the tour; Meisner's physical conditions wouldn't allow for the re-union. I wouldn't doubt both members not in attendance had to be invited, but were no shows, (meisner obviously).....doubt his mental faculties could of pulled it off, sad...."inside the sad cafe"

 

...^^^ Don Felder too. But from my knowledge of the Eagles and their history and the things that I've read over the years, while they were members of the Eagles, Felder, Leadon, and Meisner had created friction within the band which ultimately got them fired.

 

^^^yup, even Don Henley said "it was always Glen Frey's band".

...I read that the beginning of the end for Meisner was backstage just before the start of a show...because Meisner announce that he was sick of singing "Take It To The Limit". Frey tried to explain to Randy that the song was part of their history and the fans wanted hear it. Randy Meisner still didn't want to sing the song and things escalated from their...Glen and Randy actually got into a fistfight over it just before the concert began...evidently, Glen won because Randy did in fact sing the song...but the damage was done.

...Felder supposedly had a habit of being a dick.

...fwiw, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, and Joe Walsh are my favorite all time guitar players. But even Joe Walsh admitted that his early days with the Eagles were a complete fog because he basically stayed drunk and/or stoned...it almost killed him. He finally was persuaded to go into rehab and according to him he has been sober and drug free for 16 years now.

What a band no doubt, and shoot I did forget to name Felder.....

If I had Meisner's talent, and had penned Take it to the Limit, I would of sang it on tour, until I had no vocal chords left, and rake in the $$$ while ya' can....

Sad how Meisner went, not even to become a part of the 2013 tour....

Leadon's still bitter about the Flying Burrito Bros, so I wonder what's up with him... not a clue here....

Beck, Gilmour, Ry Cooder, Walsh, Clapton, Zappa, N. Young, Hendrix, Vai, Satriani, E. Van Halen, Edge, T. Morrello, ntm- a dozen others like Albert Lee and James Burton, Chet Atkins on of my longest time favorites, listening to Chet since I was 5 yrs old.
Even J. Mayer these days seems to be able to play unbelievably, now that he's touring and an integral part of Dead and Co. John's not a J. Garcia, tho' is Paul Reed Smith $35K custom, sounds damn near as sweet and similar to Garcia on a SG, LP, or anything Jerry played...

 

^^^Yeah, it's a shame what happened to Meisner...very talented and versatile musician and singer...I think his best work was with Poco.

...I think we've had this convo before but I'm a huge Zappa fan from WAY back (Overnight Sensation, Apostrophe, One Size Fits All)...Syeve Vai too, who coincidently was given his big break by Zappa.

Ironic, was just listening to "Pure Prairie League" just the other day, explaining to my Son who they are/were....

I bet you've seen the Chet Atkins, Mark Knopfler gigs on You Tube or in past decades, the two are meant to play together....Chet has always been the bar to measure all others by, imho. I would ask my Mom when I was a small boy, to put Chet on the Magnavox, when I couldn't get to sleep, and he lured me to dream land every time....deed done by the Godfather....!

A couple of other great pedal steel player's I enjoy: Hank DeVito and Sneaky Pete Kleinlow....amongst many other greats....Gilmour can play a mean slide, as can David Lindley.

Cooder began with Capt'n Beefhearts Magic Band, and George with Zappa's Mother's, and it was great to see Lowell and Ry playing together on LP's, more-so Cooder would be a walk on guest at early Little Feat Slidefests, aka Concerts.....so many great musicians out there, it's hard to limit them all, to one post...or topic....as you well know....

 

You got it; Magnavox double decker, tubes, large woofers, plenty of LP storage.

enjoyed Jeff's "Live at Ronnie Scott's" so much, first seen on PBS, I had to buy it. Got another for my Dad, 84 yrs old, loved it too.

His 2X Grammy winning instrumental LP, "Emotion and Commotion" is brilliance, genius at its best, as is Ronnie Scott's...

Tho' honestly never heard anything by Jeff Beck, I did not enjoy fully... definitely a genius, who loves American Muscle Cars, and lives in a English Coutnryside converted castle/palace/chateua-doh, those are French...
