Watched the first 2 and then lost interest. My Fiancee is a big fan and saw every one, he is planning to go see it with his friend tomorrow night. He even named our dog Chewy aka Chewbacca. I'll stay home with the dog this weekend.
These stories are one offs, not trilogies so easier to digest. This one tells the story that led up to the very first movie. The next one will tell the story of the young Han Solo. It's actually a brilliant movie story making concept. All movies you essentially walk into a particular timeline and get introduced to characters and plot if your lucky. But often the depth is limited unless the storyline was a popular novel, etc. Here you have a 40 yr old franchise and fans get to finally experience further depth of these characters. Even if say the character was the Death Star...
I'm sure I will be forced to watch it once it hits Cable. Honestly Tom I did enjoy the first 2, but in the meantime I get a half a night off to hang with my girls.
...^^^^ Nope yer' not alone Tote. My Son and I, are engulfed in the Dark Empire up here in the dark mojave. It's a part of the culture of walking dark zombies in the newest barrio. As is feasting on anything Lucas Arts, both prior and post sale out. Can't wait to see Rogue One soon. Just finished Dr. Strange, intense. I think Disney finally has a winner, by hitting a HR with the story line; a true prequel to Lucas's work... Darkness is a common aspect of life in this dark daylight of northern upper/high mojave desert, and northern L.A. county, Or- the Antelope Valley, aka AV, noted in the LASD "Compton Relocated" boys club of Deputies, who began their 1st jobs after Castaic time, on the darkest meanest streets of L.A. eg Compton, Lawnwood, Lakewood, Crenshaw, Pacoima, East L.A., Huntington Park, Long Beach, Vernon, et al.By 96, The AV had eclipsed once and for all, the title of crime captial of L.A County, a moniker still owned by AV, sadly fkng enough... The "AV" Always the darkest whole in all of L.A county, separated by 60 miles of San Gabriel's, which cannot cover the Vegas spotlight like light lit night sky to the south, while the north valley is darker than black, especially when there an empty moon. This place for 150 yrs had been a great place to toss a dead body, numerous mine shafts, wells, tons of rabid hungry coyotes, ravens like condors pecking meat apart on highways, snakes eating the remainders, endless desolation. wtf- this has to do with Rogue One....???*** Dark Evil Empire's vs those who daily fight an urban war, more primitive than SW's, and a real storyline by those committed "to protect and serve", to death. A basic star wars premise in real life, without the light sabers, and all those cool flying space machines. *** The Dark Empire is my "Bushmaster", Mossberg 88 Security model, Moss 500, both 18.5" 8 Shells, and the latest purchase of a Mossberg 590, 20" barrel, 9 shell shot. When Star Wars, releases- SW's the American CWII, or SW's the Un-Civil III Race Wars, shot in Ferguson, S. Chicago, then I'll know Apocalypse has arrived... ^^^^ I'd say they're off to a great start, as this blows out the first Disney SW's flub of a flick, tho' it wasn't that bad, I mean how bad can Mark Hammill fk up a wet dream...?
Damned, I've got to stop hooking the huka, into the wee hrs of night; no one may know wtf, I'm even talking about.....
The cameo's were nice light hearted moments in an otherwise heroic tragedy consistent with the typical war drama genre. Although that's not too much of a departure....Original Star Wars vaporized Obiwan pretty early on. That Force doesn't seem to have a good track record of keeping Jedi alive very long.
^^^^ how would you rate Rogue One, compared to Lucas's 6 films??? What would you give Rogue One star wise, 1-10? Vs the other 6; as well as "The Force Awakens"??? I'd bet Rogue One will displace TFA's, as- dethroning: "The Force Awakens" which broke various box office records, and became the highest grossing installment in the franchise, highest grossing film in North America; ( un-adjusted for inflation); third highest grossing film of all time. with a worldwide gross of over $2 billion and a net profit of over $780 million. this is interesting: on "Rogue One" vs "The Force Awakens" box office results thus far. As of December 29, 2016, "Rogue One" has grossed $375.4 million in the United States and Canada and $312.5 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $687.9 million, against a production budget of $200 million. In late November 2016, box office projections for the United States and Canada had the film grossing $100–150 million in its opening weekend. Disney chairman Bob Iger noted that Disney and Lucas film did not expect "Rogue One" to match The Force Awakens' total gross of $2.1 billion, nor its $248 million opening. Pre-sale tickets for the film went on sale at 12:01 am EST on November 28, 2016, and within 10 minutes crashed ticket sale sites such as Fandango, much like "The Force Awakens" had the year prior. In its first twenty four hours, the film had the second-highest ever amount of pre-sale tickets sold, behind only "The Force Awakens" .Worldwide, the film was expected to gross $280–350 million in its opening weekend. In the United States, the film made $29 million from its Thursday night previews, off 51% from "The Force Awakens" $57 million, but was the highest Thursday gross of 2016, and $71.1 million on Friday, the 12th highest grossing opening day of all-time. The film grossed $46.3 million on Saturday (a 35% drop from Friday) and $155.1 million in its opening weekend, the third biggest debut of 2016. It topped the box office once again in its second weekend, grossing $64 million (-58.7%) over the three day weekend, and $96.1 million over the four day weekend. On Christmas Day, it grossed $25.9 million.
My better half just got in and said it was really good. I told him I don't want to hear about it I will see it on Cable.
Lucas'? Okay 4-6 get panned, although #6 was the best of that trilogy (episode 3). But everyone generally agrees Empire Strikes Back (#2 or Episode 5) was the best. I'm going to put Rogue One up there with Empire Strikes Back. In some ways it's better.
Gracias- Grand Poobah of the Galactic Kingdom. What time is happy hour on the Death Star, for inter=galactic hitch-hikers; and time travellers....? may the force be with you...! Wait, .... you are the force...
they did that a long time ago, like walking into/thru an EMP blast.... never been the same since.... Happy New Year New York, as well as the East Coast and beyond....
