niners infuriated me more than the blazers this year but i primarily hate their front office. that team is going to be in the dumpster until those guys die or pull their heads out of their asses.

Here is an important life lesson for some of you.

It does you no good to claim you're the smartest guy in the room unless you own the actual room.

This also explains why Denny started his own forum.

I'm not sure Riley is the coach that Kelly is.

Chip won 10 games his first 2 seasons at Philly. Riley never sniffed that kind of success in the pros

I don't think Kelly has achieved much success in the pros either.....every team now can game plan for Kelly ..first couple seasons he got away with some of his risky plays. That's over. He's like Phil Jackson going from the Bulls to the Lakers to the Knicks.....without Kobe or MJ, he's just another guy in a suit

Kind of funny that they gave Kelly a big guarantee, if I'm him I go coach for free for the next 4 years and make Jed pay every cent.

And what the hell did they expect with that roster? He is lucky they got 2 wins.

He didn't get figured out. He just lost all his weapons. In a good situation he could be a great coach. Lombardi couldn't have coached that garbage Niners roster to 3 wins.

Jim Harbaugh was the same way. With the 9ers All Pro/Pro Bowl Defense, and that All Pro Offensive Line, he did pretty damn good.

Then in 2014, when most of those All Pro players were hurt, he went 8-8. Just another guy in a suit. So he ran back to college with his tail between his legs.

I tell this to fellow 9er fans over on NinerNation blog, and it's not a popular opinion. People love that asshole to the point of obsession. But not me. Choking away the Superbowl and the following NFC Championship left a REAL sour taste in my mouth for that man. I'll always be bitter about it; I don't care how many games he won while he was with SF.

Not just a big guarantee, but now the 9ers are stuck paying this guy $24 Million. I think he was supposed to be around for at least 3 years.

To me, this kind of signals a few things:

    1) THANK FUCKING GOD General Manager Trent Baalke was fired. That fucking asshole couldn't draft his way out of an open paper bag. He might just be one of THE worst GMs this organization has ever had. Yay.....no more drafting ACL All-Stars! The entire roster is absolute shit solely because of that man. If you ask me, his termination was 2 or 3 years too late.

    2) Keeping Kelly around would not have been optimal, and it's one of the very VERY few things that Jed York has done that makes any sense: firing Kelly. And if you ask me, our DC should have been thrown out the door too. But Kelly's firing means that the incoming GM can pick his own guy, and I really like that. The two need serious chemistry for this to work. I don't have the full list of who's being considered in front of me, but Kyle Shannahan was one of those considered for HC, if I remember correctly. And I like that.

And Kelly's firing further signals that they are...

    3) Getting rid of Colin Kaepernick. Mr. SJW Cop Hater has been a constant distraction this year, and I'm well beyond sick of him. If his playing was even half-way decent, he would have had a bit of lee-way. But even with the vastly-improved OLine, he was utterly terrible most of the time, and "okay" the rest of the time. It's time for a new QB, and time for Kap to go off and be an activist somewhere where he's not a distraction to football, and where we don't have to deal with him or his made-up/exaggerated issues anymore. His heart is obviously no longer in football, and I don't see any team picking him up with the baggage that he carries.

That's my take as a 9er fan. I'm still a fan for life, but unless they get 5 wins next season and keep it competitive, then I'm probably not going to waste my time watching many games. Jed York is an awful owner, Levi Stadium is an awful stadium with TONS of problems, and the talent is an absolute mess.

If NaVorro Bowman retires, I won't blame him in the least. Lord knows he'll have a massive paycheck if he does. But if he stays on, then this incoming GM needs to get him some serious help on Defense. Ray Ray Armstrong alone wasn't cutting it.

The best thing the 9ers can do is make a trade for a young QB who's shown brilliance and/or an ability to play at a high level. I really like that back-up QB with NE....Quappolo, or whatever his name is. If we can somehow lure him to the West Coast, that would be brilliant.

These next few months will be very interesting indeed. One thing's for sure: this year was NOT Kelly's fault. This 2-14 season lies at the feet of Baalke and York. Not Kelly. The dude got a shit deal coming here, and never looked for one minute like he had any kind of hope in this season.

Kelly fucked himself over with the Eagles.
He was brought in to maximize the blue chip talent the eagles had.
Instead he traded those players away and drafted straight garbage. Simply because he believed his "system" would work anywhere with anyone.
It stopped working without the blue chip talent that he traded away for pennies.

And for those claiming 9ers had the worst defense in the nfl, historically bad... Eagles defense turned around to be decent after Kelly was rightfully fired.
At the end of the day Kelly sucks as an NFL coach and needs to go back to college.

If I was still into watching the NFL, I'd be terrified if my team sucked and rumors of Kelly being hired. Guy can't coach at the nfl level and has shown he trades the best players on the team.

You don't know what Chip said or promised to York, so why are you trying to make an argument around that?

Fuck Kelly, he destroyed my Eagles. Thank god he's out of the NFL now, hopefully for good. Go back to PAC12 and destroy the ducks for me. ;)

there was talk of him being fired after the NFC championship game. That mess is squarely on york, baalke and paraag. Harbaugh is clearly a good coach, and they pushed him out the door for having the audacity to point out how much better he was at his job than those other clowns. Maybe his act wore thin, whatever. there is zero chance he was the problem there, as we all can now clearly see.

Other than the fact that he was just given the Len Eshmont Award by his teammates , i might agree with you. "The Len Eshmont Award, the 49ers most prestigious annual honor, has been given each year to the 49er who best exemplifies the “inspirational and courageous play” of Len Eshmont."

The 49ers roster is a trainwreck, joe montana couldnt win 5 games with this clusterfuck. That said, i think the QB position can certainly use an upgrade. Will they find one? i dont know.

Yeah, his act definitely wore thin; no question there. He also forgot something: you don't insult your boss and mock him in front of your team. That's just not acceptable. I know Jed and Trent were two clowns of the same cloth. I get that; no argument there. But that's no excuse to insult the man who signs your goddamn paycheck.

Now...should they have stayed out of Harbaugh's way and let him run that team the way he wanted to? No question there; definitely. And should Trent have worked better (and vice-versa) with Harbaugh during the Draft? Yep, definitely. But Harbaugh deserves enough of the blame for his attitude and how he handled the situation.

So combine the fact that he was a fucking headcase and not very mature at times, and combine that with choking away two of the biggest games of this 9ers decade, it's no wonder the FO (and even many fans, as I remember) were sick of him.

Should he have been given the boot? I'll let history be the judge of that. But at least half of me can't blame the FO for making that decision. Their only mistake with that was assuming that good coaches, who can get you to the playoffs, are a dime-a-dozen. And they're not.

There's nothing courageous or inspiring about what he's done. He's made a mockery of a career that he wouldn't last 5 seconds in (and of which is is completely ignorant about), and he has completely misguided social beliefs (wearing a Fidel Castro shirt in Miami and Pig Cop socks during practice, anyone?). He could have handled his protest and activism in a far more appropriate manner than worshiping a communist dictator (whom he actually praised and tried to make excuses for) and condemning an entire employment sector based on the media hype over rare and isolated cases of police racism.

So of course they were going to give it to him. It's San Fran-fucking-cisco...probably THE most Liberal city in the nation. You really think the Front Office was going to give it to, say, Joe Staley? Or NaVorro Bowman (who would have been a far better choice, if you ask me)? No way.

So they gave him the award. To me, it's nothing more than a parting gift. I highly doubt he's on this team come September.

The players voted on it. They felt he best exemplified inspirational and courageous play.

Previous winners are a whos who of 49er greats, generally it is the most respected man on the team.

Ducks should throw a lot of money at Kelly to return as offensive coordinator. So if the new guy does not pan out..boom, just reinstate Kelly as coach.
