This is a close call but I side more with Marion. Mario is much better on the defensive end and is one of the few that can guard all five positions. His offensive numbers are not that bad either.I would really like to hear where you guys stand on this match-up.
I would have to take Marion as he is a great defensive player and also a very good offensive player even with that hideous shot. Marion averages 18 and 10 a game while Odom averages 17 and 8. Lamar Odom though is a more consistent offensive player and can do more.(17 pgg, 8 rbg, and 5 assists per game this year). This is a very close matchup but I would have to go with Marion just because of the things he can do on defense.
Marion. Both of them are close to the same type of player. But I think Marion is more athletic. He can also play the C and PF spot and he isn't that tall too. Compared to the other big men. He's quick and can block shots easily. He can also rebound well. But even though his shot is ugly. Hey what can you do about it, he gets them in. And he plays superb defense and is now playing behind Nash and Stoudamire.
Odom easily. Why? For the simple fact that he can create his own shot and create shots for others. Marion CANNOT create his own shot. All of his points are either assisted or on fastbreak. Odom is a far better playmaker, and at his size that is a very special thing.Marion is a better rebounder and defender, but give me the guy you can build a team around over a 3rd offensive option like Marion.
That is somewhat true, he is not good at creating shots for other because he does have Nash and Boris is also better than him at creating shots but he can create his own shots. He can very often create his own shots, mostly those floaters in the lane and execute them well for a high percentage. Also whem it comes to shooting he has range as Odom and does have a bigger edge on the defensive end. One thing that does bother me about Marion are his problems in the playoffs.
