How do you know Millsap would be a rental?

I mean, of course it has its drawbacks, but we need two players near his level and getting him, although expensive, for the package I suggested would leave us with our most valuable players as well as future picks in order to get that 2nd (new) fringe all-star

I would hope he's a rental because I'd hate to be the team to give him his next contract. Trading for him using 1st round draft picks would be bad enough, signing him to a new contract would be even worse.

Why? Is it going to stop some other FA from coming to this hotbed? Lolol

I have never been of the mind that this team can meaningfully improve through Free Agency. But I still don't think it's wise to overpay players who don't put you in the conversation for championship contention. Someone reported that Millsap's max salary would be around $35M. Even if he took a $10M discount I wouldn't want to tie up $25M in a player who is steadily getting worse.

Finally Noel getting some more minutes and shows why we should make a move asap. The guy is a beast defensively. He can change the level of our team.

I am one who would also "sniff around" Paul Milsap. I have the feeling he is the kind of guy who will stay in good shape and keep being a player for a few more years.

Does his present game really depend on hustle? I would like to hear what BNM has to say about this.

I highly doubt he will get some kind of max $135 million deal; I think more like what Dwight Howard got, $70 million for three years. I hope Olshey is out there gathering info.

I think the Noel ship is sailing. Colangelo wised up and realized that Noel is actually a good young player.

It may have. But if it did then he is going to trade Okafor at the deadline. One of the two of Noel or Okafor is gone.

I'm sure Okafor will be very available. Personally, I wouldn't be interested in him for Portland, but maybe Olshey disagrees.

Or they just want to remind everyone how good he really is so as to boost his trade value. They play for nothing so it's possible.

Butler gets 4.5 assists at the SF position with Rondo and Wade at the guards. Thibs used to talk about playing him some at PG, but that's a little bit of a stretch.

At SG, he's typically bigger and stronger than his defender. He's excellent in the post, that's a lot of the fouls he draws.

No to Milsapp. Too old, too much to re-sign him. Not good enough to make us contenders.

Agreed. If it was one or the other then maybe. But both having to give up a lot to get him and then also break the bank to pay him is just too much to do.
