This is the opposite of what people say when minimum wage hikes are discussed.

Should we get rid of Medicare? Should seniors have to pay for their health care? Should we get rid of the VA which is complete socialism? It's irritating how you try to spin it when you talk about the VA and when you talk about the military not being socialist. It's complete bull when you do. Our military, which will pay your back child support, is the most socialist entity on the planet. We already have single-payer in this country. It's just not Nationwide.

The VA is not complete socialism. It's part of raising an army. The people who serve have to be paid.

That said, VA health care doesn't have the greatest reputation. If that's what you want for us all, no thank you.

But regardless of that reputation, 82% of veterans are happy with their care...

And will just agree to disagree that it is complete socialism even though you got more spin on it than a dreidel.

The problem with changing anything is that except for extreme cases change always hurts someone.

For instance how they calculate my vacation rate of pay. I'm commission so they average how much I really make not my hourly rate. They used to do it by the prior year. Now they go by the previous 3 months. I preferred the year because I'm consistent but now if I have one or two bad weeks prior to taking my vacation I can lose money.

So, vets may be happy with their care but if we made it better for everyone someone might miss the old way.

It isn't complete socialism. If it were, everyone would have to participate. Even veterans don't have to.

The actual spin is to claim it is pure socialism.

Here's What Veterans Around America REALLY Think About The VA

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs became an explosive political story this week, culminating with the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

The final straw appeared to be a report that described chronic wait times at the Phoenix hospital and found that about 1,700 veterans in need of care were "at risk of being lost or forgotten."

The VA and independent investigators with the Office of Inspector General are still in the process of uncovering problems at dozens of other VA facilities around the country while some lawmakers are calling for criminal probes.

I'm forking out a lot of money for insurance every month just to avoid VA medical "care". The VA is strictly my last resort if all else fails.

"Last resort" is exactly what it should be. That's what a "safety net" actually is.

Similarly, the actual spin is to claim a proposal for single payer is pure socialism.

It's not called "socialized medicine " because of spin.

Sure it is. We don't call the fire department 'socialized fire protection', do we?
