Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. I see many fans and 'experts' starting to slide to Kevin Durant being the 1st pick because he's been jawdroppingly good scoring/rebounding...etc...But I think many of these people need to watch a little more of Oden. People don't realize how good this Ohio State team is. They are very deep with good scorers (Conley, Harris, Cook, Lewis, Butler...) Greg Oden is the lead scorer with 15ppg. If Oden played with Texas' roster he would probably be averaging 22 or so ppg because he would be getting the ball a lot more. With Ohio St. they have so many hands to feed it to...Oden's offensive 'rawness' to me is not true anymore, I used to think that way but I've watched Oden's last 4 games on TV. He can score pretty much at will if he got the ball more. He has a great jump hook thats pretty much unstoppable (which he shot last night, wow it was pretty). I just don't see what people are seeing when they want Durant going ahead of Oden...Sure Durant is kicking ass now and is a surefire #1 pick in most drafts...but Greg Oden when he's healthy can score and will be one of the NBA best defensive players PLAYING CENTER...We all know SG's and SF's don't lead teams to championships. I guess what I'm saying is, don't fall in love with Durant and think he's the better #1 option because Durant is showing all his skills off right now...Oden will take a bit more time, big men take more time to develope and I think a lot of NBA fans don't realize the awesome potential of Greg Oden... No team in the NBA can afford not to pick Oden first. If the Bucks had the first pick I would be going crazy if we didn't pick Oden even though we already have Villanueva/Bogut.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. I agree with your point saying Ohio St. has more offensive weapons than Texas so Oden doesn't get as many touches. The 2 games I say them play it seemed like if he would have got more touches he could have scored 30 points. I wouldn't take Durant 1st no matter how good he has been playing, Oden will have a better NBA career.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. They will both have great careers, but we all know the impact great centers have in the NBA...look at the list of great centers the last 25 years and look at their impacts.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Totally agreed, BCB. You never take a star forward over a star center, especially now. Durant is an incredible talent, and he will be an unbelievable player too, and he may put up better numbers than Oden (especially right away). But a true 7 footer who is a great defensive talent and scoring at a decent page without a full-strength shooting hand is just a dream for any NBA team to have. Oden is a once in a decade opportunity.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Unless Houston has the #1 pick (no chance in hell)nobody will pick Durant over Oden at the #1 pickbut Durant is #1 in pretty much any draft in the last 7 years except maybe 2003(reading over it I cant tell if I worded that right..someone tell me if I did)
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Houston already has Tracy McGrady. I think Houston would be better off taking Greg Oden and having him play PF. It would be the Olajuwon/Sampson they missed out on...what a compliment those two would be playing together.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. ALL HAIL BCB....you took the words right outve my mouth.

Robinson and Duncan were pretty good as well. Honestly, I cant see any team taking Durant over Oden. But of couse we all saw Mario Williams got picked in front of Reggie Bush last year.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Well, I remember a couple years ago when Dwight Howard was taken above Emeka and alot of people thought that was retarted, and look now...Dwight isnt that much better, but he has so much potential to be amazing that its not even funny. I know this circumstance is different, but I was just saying.Although I think Durant is more talented, and the better player, anytime would be nuts not to take Oden. He is too big, too good on defense, and has too much strength and size not to be picked first. Like everyone is saying, not alot of these guys come along. I think Durant will be the guy to have better numbers in the NBA, but Oden will be the one to get a ring first. Centers are hider to find these days, and you need to take one when you have the chance...
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. I think Greg Oden is just as talented/good as Durant is. Oden plays a much tougher position in terms of productivity (the game slides in a scorers favor) and in terms of development (takes bigmen a little longer). Like I said Greg Oden's impact goes beyond the statistics and he would be putting up bigger numbers if he played on Texas' very young roster (Texas has 4 true freshmen starting right now). And for the record I had Dwight Howard as my #1 prospect in his draft, unlike Dickie Vitale that was riding Emeka Okafor like a mechanical bull.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. AND Oden is playing with his left hand....Oden ISNT a southpaw.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. I was tempted to say this the other day when we were playing texas, but I thought maybe people would disagree with me just because I am an Aggie. I haven't seen a lot of Oden or Durant, for that matter, but it seems as though Oden would be the clear choice.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Good point BCB. When I read some forums he seems to be like the expert in everthing lol. But then what team wouldn't take a big man over a SF? Every draft always has good fowards and guards. But many drafts don't have a great C. NCAA doesn't mean anything when it goes to NBA. Their stats can be amazing in NCAA, but when it comes to the NBA it can drop. And to me I think Durants numbers will start to decline. But even if I'm a team that already has a good C. I can alternate him to C/PF.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. I dont think there are many teams out there that would NOT take Greg Oden first. When you finally have the chance at selecting a once in a decade type player, at the toughest position out there, you can't pass it up. Any team would be crazy to pass on him. Oden and Durant will be dominating the league at there positions, but centers are so hard to come by, and especially players of Oden's caliber - you just cant pass him up. I was so pissed when OSU was struggling, they werent getting the ball to Oden. He needs to get the ball when there perimeter game is off. He's so dominant, and he's worked his ass off on those post moves - hell he can even shoot free throws! Both players are depended on a ton by their teams, but there roles are much different. Durant is the go to guy, the scorer, the leader, the agressivness on D, and the big time rebounder. Oden lives in the lane, that is his house - he should be there #1 offensive option when there struggling outside, and he's the intimidater, everyone will think twice about driving, posting up, in the lane.Oden is great now, but his potential is through the roof. Durant has some great skills, and his potential is incredible too. It doesn't matter if mock drafts don't account for team needs, no team out there will ever, EVER, pass on a Greg Oden.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Kevin Durant is playing the best basketball out of anyone in college basketball at the moment and is probaably the front runner for POY award but Oden is a once in a lifetime kind of center with lots of talent and unlimited potential. Many teams would take Oden with the number 1 pick but teams like the Celtics and Sixers would have a tough choice as they already have big men in Al Jefferson who is really emerging and Samuel Dalembert is having a career year. They might be tempted to take Kevin Durant because both of those teams need a player like him but also they might try to shop their big man. When it's all said and done though I think Oden will be the number one pick but it will be a very tough decision between him and Durant as they are both really good.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. The title of this thread explains enough. You would be f*cking nuts to not pick him. His blend of size, offense, and defense come by, like said before, once in a decade. The kid is a special talent. You can't really pass on him at all. Durant is just another great swingman. We just saw a few of them come in, LeBron, Melo, etc. Swingmen that can give you 20+ with other areas of the game being affected come by so much more often than a center like Oden who can do it all.The only case Oden shouldn't go #1 is if the Celtics get the #2 pick
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. Ya really good centers like Oden are hard to find and rare in today's game.
Re: You'd be f*cking nuts not to pick Greg Oden #1. http://nbadraft.net/prevenas077.asp A good little article pretty much saying what I first posted in this topic. I'm glad he picked who he did.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>While both players are franchise cornerstones, Durant will require more talent around him than Oden. A team can definitely win with Durant, but Oden fills more gaps.</div>
