And quality government is quality government, regardless of the label of the party. Meaning there have been both Dems and Republicans who have been great for this country. And even then their views are not of 100% of the nations. JFK great Dem. Lincoln great Reb. Both still had faults and we could try to dissect them and subcategorize all we want, but in the end tbe bulk of the nation still believes both were great presidents.
Ok, you ask for it. JFK was the charismatic leader of his day, where as Nixon was a black cloud and a rogue to boot, so voting for Kennedy was the easy choice for me. But I do think he fucked up talking with Khrushchev, giving the appearance of weakness that dam near got us into war. Damn! Those were bad days, I had pretty much resigned myself to not getting back, and just thought, fuck it just do it! But all turned out well and that is what most people will remember. In my mind Kennedy was more like a Republican than any Democrat of today. I studied Lincoln much when I was young and again since Obama became President. I think those two are both the same Character type in the Keirsey temperament sense. Probably both INFP's. The only ones of that type to have managed to become President. Both leading by following Feeling in their decision making rather than relying on logic. Where as Obama has only managed to divide the people of this Nation on political and racial lines, more than we have been in years, Lincoln got it done! The only President to lead us into civil war! No where in the Constitution does he have the power to start a war with States that decide to leave the Union. All of written history blames South Caroline for starting the war, but the fact is, Lincoln's actions were the first war like actions taken. When he ordered Federal troops to occupy the abandon fort Sumter which at that time was then, territory of another country. And then again when he ordered a blockade of Charleston, another act of war. So then he got his war. So today people read in history how Lincoln freed the Slaves! Well hell, he didn't do that until his countrymen in the North became sick of his war, the most costly in lives as any war in US history. Damn near one person lost there life for every slave owner in the United State and nearly one for every three slaves. To do this he spent in treasure, well over 10 tiimes the market value of the slaves if he had tried to purchase them, which he did not ever try to do. He ignored the Constitution in his endeavorers, more than any other President in history with only Franklin Roosevelt being close. As the First Republican President, he wasn't even close to what a Republican is suppose to show in the way they govern. But today he stands in the history taught, as perhaps the greatest President this nation has produce. Hell man, I don't want another even close to rivaling Lincoln!
