Which is a very good rule, IF, you only plan to ice skate on the roads.

My guess is, their rule has more to do with money than public safety. They clean the roads in the least costly way possible. The problem is. Their 4” rule creates very dangerous conditions. By the time 4” fall, a ton of people have driven over the snow and packed it down into ice.

In our area, as soon as it starts to snow they start plowing, and no one drives unless it is absolutely necessary. Little to no traffic gives the plows a chance to move the snow as soon as it falls, and before it packs down. Plus little to no traffic makes it easier for them to plow where they need to (lanes, shoulders and turnouts).

The plows get more work done faster. And we get safer roads faster.

Give anyone that played more than 30 minutes last night the night off. Screw the NBA/ESPN for making them play this game under these conditions.

Curious, what type of alternate/additional preparation would have/could have been done if it were predicted 6"-12" vs 1"-4".

Ive read so many things from Portlanders today blaming the weatherman.
Mother Nature is unpredictable and I dare people with criticisms to go become a meteorologist and show these guys up.
Until then shut the F up with the criticism and finger pointing and do what any person with common sense does when snow is on the forecast.
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Lost a large tree from this snow storm, plus as yet an uncounted number of hedge shrubs have damage.

AND now I just found, damage to the gutters. The weight of the snow has bent the gutters enough to break the seal at the joints causing them to leak.
