If Floyd Mayweather really wants to fight Conor McGregor, UFC president Dana White is finally on board.

On Friday, White appeared on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd on FS1 where he pitched an offer to Mayweather and McGregor to put the mega-fight together on pay-per-view.

“I’ll tell you what Floyd, here’s a real offer and I’m the guy, I’m the guy that can actually make the offer and I’m actually making a real offer. We pay you $25 million, we’ll pay Conor $25 million and then we’ll talk about pay-per-view at a certain number. There’s a real offer,” White revealed.

It’s a stunning turn of events after White has said for the past year that there was no way a fight between McGregor and Mayweather would ever actually happen.

White’s comments come just days after Mayweather said that he would absolutely fight McGregor for a guaranteed $100 million while offering the UFC lightweight champion $15 million with a percentage of pay-per-view buys split between the two of them.

Mayweather stated that he was the bigger draw in the fight so he would receive the lion’s share of the profits up front, but White scoffed at that idea after the numbers the retired boxing champion returned for his last bout.

After Mayweather pulled in over 4 million buys for his fight with Manny Pacquiao — the all-time record for pay-per-view buys in history — his final bout against Andre Berto was considered a flop with only 350,000 buys on pay-per-view.

Conversely, White points out how McGregor has been consistently pulling in well over a million pay-per-view buys, including massive numbers for his last two bouts against Nate Diaz and Eddie Alvarez.

“First of all let’s cut the B.S. right from the get go — (Floyd Mayweather) hasn’t talked to anybody about this fight. You’re talking to somebody about the fight, you’re talking to me. I’m the promoter. Conor McGregor is under contract to me. To say that Conor McGregor hasn’t made $8 million or $10 million in a fight, wrong again. To think that you’re the ‘A’ side — how are you the ‘A’ side?” White said.

“The last fight, the last major fight you were in, you left such a bad taste in everybody’s mouth that nobody wants to see you again. His last fight did 350,000 pay-per-view buys. Conor did 1.3 (million for UFC 205) and 1.5 (million for UFC 202) pay-per-view buys. So I don’t understand how you think you’re the ‘A’ side and there’s a reason why you want this Conor McGregor fight so bad — because you know that’s your money fight.”

Mayweather stated this week that he would only come out of retirement to fight McGregor and now White is on board to make the bout a reality.

As far as expectations on pay-per-view, White could only speculate what he believes a showdown between McGregor and Mayweather could pull but he knows the crossover bout has limitless potential considering the kind of attention this fight would receive.

“When you look at things like this, you have to take an educated guess at what you think the possible pay-per-view (would be),” White said. “I would be disappointed if a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather match didn’t do over 2 million, 2.3 to 2.5 million (pay-per-view buys). But then the upside could be who knows — maybe it could do what (the fight) with Manny Pacquiao did.”

White also said that if the UFC promoted a fight between McGregor and Mayweather that he would add another title bout to the show while also stacking the undercard similar to the event the promotion just held in New York at Madison Square Garden.

There are still plenty of hurdles to jump before this fight comes together, but it’s clear White is on board to watch McGregor face Mayweather in a boxing match for the ages.

Cowherd interprets correctly, IMO, that by Mayweather claiming that his number starts with $100M guaranteed, he's basically saying, "I don't really want to fight McGregor, but I want to use money as an excuse." Cowherd also correctly makes the point that Mayweather has a lot more to lose in a match than McGregor does. That being the case, it's honestly not unreasonable for him to insist on a much higher payout. His reasoning for it--"I've earned bigger paydays in the past, I'm the draw"--is faulty though. If he were honest enough to just come out and say, "I'm risking a lot more by putting my legacy and undefeated record on the line, so I'll need a greater reward to offset my greater risk," then maybe the two sides might actually be able to get something done. As it is, I don't think there's any way that Mayweather signs up for White's $25M + an unspecified % of PPV buys offer.

They shouldn't do a straight up boxing match nor a full on MMA. I think they should compromise in the middle and do a fight with no on the ground grabbling or ground and pound. If they go too far one way or the other it wouldn't be fair, but at least this way, we can see two stand-up fighting styles competing.

May made more than that fighting Berto and people weren't even interested in that fight.

McGregor needs to fight out his UFC deal and go do that fight with Mayweather and split with him. They'd both make a lot more.

DFW talks a lot of shit on Cowherd's show and Cowherd acts like it's all written in stone. Won't forget him telling people to book flights and hotel rooms last time the May/McGregor stuff came up a year or so ago, the twit.

I don't think Connor could land a single punch to floyds face. Floyd would destroy him, probably while playing with him the whole time. The fight would be over as soon as Floyd wanted it to be.

People overestimate the skills of mma fighters. The worst professional boxer in the world would easily beat Connor in a boxing match.

Dana White seems to be getting pretty desperate.

Conor would kill Floyd. He's younger with a wider range of skill.

Oh, I agree with you completely. And I would think that Mayweather believes that as well. But if on the 1% chance that we're wrong McGregor actually is able to bulldoze his way through Mayweather's defense and escapability and somehow actually knock him out, the damage to Mayweather's legacy would be irreparable, which is why he's right to demand a much higher guarantee.

Well one never knows but I'd sure have lost money of Michael Moorer knocking out Mike Tyson...all it takes is one good punch.

Yeah i dont see it being a complete boxing match (unless conor just wants the major cash grab, which could be possible).

Floyd would beat him at just pure boxing, but mcgregor COULD possibly knock him out if he got him a few times. Floyd is getting OLD. Weirder things have happened.

Hilarious. Connor is too fucking slow and doesn't have nearly the defensive capabilities and reflexes to hit Mayweather let alone beat him. Floyd regularly switches up his stance. That is something that Connor McGregor can't even fathom. It's like y'all truly want to find a "Great White Hype"..

Um... Not at punching and defense....
Not at reflexes or Escape ability. And something that y'all seem to be missing and Connor would not be able to fathom, is the amount of stamina that it takes to go 12 rounds. Connor would flame out in the 4th or 5th round. He would be physically and mentally spent from not being able to land any of the punches that he's throwing. When you're tired you make bad decisions and that's when Floyd would start to dominate. Like the 4th or 5th round.

This fight would probably make more money for both fighters than what Mayweather, pacquiao did. I am a huge MMA guy but Conor would lose this one. Without a doubt.

Yeah, you know...Pac did NOT take that loss gracefully. That, and he's a bit of a self-righteous dick with all of his religious, anti-gay bullshit.

But....Floyd is annoying as fuck. Not one bit of humble bone in his entire body. Always showing off his money, but never doing charity.

I've got no problem with his wealth. That's his money; he's earned it. But...it wouldn't kill him to be a little humble about it.

Conor is my favorite fighter. He was classy and graceful when he lost to Diaz (also an amazing fighter who I've got nothing but respect for). To be honest, I didn't care if Conor lost that fight; I was just looking for a good fight. Diaz certainly gave it to him; Conor had no idea what hit him.

    And yeah....'MURICA!

Floyd Mayweather Jr. ‘Absolutely’ Wants To Fight UFC’s Conor McGregor

Maybe that Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor superfight isn’t dead after all.

UFC president Dana White made headlines Friday when he made a “real offer” to the undefeated boxer to fight “The Notorious,” but Mayweather quickly laughed it off and called White “a f—ing comedian” for pledging $25 million for each fighter.

However, Mayweather seemed a bit more optimistic Saturday when he was asked about the potential fight during an interview with Jim Gray at the Badou Jack vs. James DeGale bout at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center
