They lost again, this time to the Hornets. they now stand at 23-24, 8 games behind Utah for the division lead, and are just percentage points above the Clippers for the 7th seed, to make matters worse they have just a games lead on the Wolves and Warriors.I thought Denver was going to struggle, but I gotta say I'm suprised that they suck this bad. I know they have had injuries and suspensions but even before that they were struggling. 6 of their last 7 losses have come against some very bad teams, teams which they should have beaten even without Allen Iverson. What do you all think, too early to say they've imploded?

Melo was suspended, Camby had a injury, AI got a injury missed games, Camby again got a injury is out. Melo is playing hurt, and Blake is beat up a little also. Camby is out for now. And AI just made his injury worse tonight Wednesday.Once they are all healthy they will be a huge force in the playoffs even to the top teams.PG - BlakeSG - AISF - MeloPF - NeneCenter - CambyBlake will get AI+Melo both shots. AI+Melo at the same time are hard to gaurd the teams will get into a lot of foul trouble. Nene+Camby on D inside is crazy good. And Melo plays aight D also. They are having trouble cause of the injurys they will be fine. And anyone who actually watches the game get's that AI+Melo are getting it done great the are a great duo it's guys around them that have to step up. Like JR can't go for 3-13 or w/e.

Neither Blake nor Iverson are big enough to play the 2 guard. Miller was though. Watch the name calling as well.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Neither Blake nor Iverson are big enough to play the 2 guard. Miller was though.</div>Miller wasn't either mavsfan. In fact, he's shorter than Blake and only 2 feet taller than Iverson. He's also not big enough to play the 2 guard position either. On topic, I think it's still early to say the Nugs have imploded. I don't think this team has even had a full month together with the trades, suspensions and injuries. Definately a work in progress and a lot of times these situations need a full training camp to work itself together. So I think it's too early to say anything.
Denver has injury and coaching issues, not to mention defensive problems (which ties into the first two). Offensively they are fine, but their weakness is defense. Part of that falls into the starting backcourt that Karl likes to use: Iverson and Blake. Those two are both too small to start together. Eric Snow was fine starting next to Iverson because he was a tough, defensive-minded player... Blake is not. If the Nuggets can't/don't play defense, they need to try and outscore people, and they just don't run that much, in my opinion. Also, I said this to Tony yesterday: Why in the hell doesn't Karl run any plays? I mean, here you have Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony. Both can get to the paint, and both can hit the mid-range jumper. Wouldn't running a crap load of AI/Melo pick-and-rolls down the stretch be the best thing for the offense? They have enough players to open up the floor with. Put Smith out on the perimeter, Camby on the baseline, and Najera or Evans near the block. Run the pick-and-roll up top with AI/Melo, and if they go on top of the screen Iverson gets a lay-up or passes it off for an easy dunk or a Smith three-point attempt. If the double Iverson, he passes it out to Melo for an open mid-range jumper. I just don't get it...Injuries have been a huge problem for them as well. Iverson is going to miss another week or so after aggravating that sprained ankle last night, and Camby's out too and has been hampered with a broken/fractured wrist all year. The suspensions to Carmelo and JR didn't help either. The All-Star Break couldn't come fast enough for the Nuggets. They all need to rest up and try to come out firing in the second half of the season. They'll probably end up being a 6th to 8th seed at best. Their schedule is absolutely BRUTAL down the stretch of the season.Oh well... I want to see AI do well in Denver, but even if they continue to lose at least that means the Sixers will get a better draft pick. :nasty:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BrewCityBuck @ Feb 8 2007, 03:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You guys are jumping on this too early...christ...give it a couple months...</div>Especially when you consider that the Iverson/Melo combination IS working... their biggest problems so far are injuries and lack of team defense. Those will come with time, as will increased offensive efficiency. It's kind of hard for everybody to practice together when they are injured and/or suspended.I think we'll see a definitive answer for whether this trade was worth it for Denver next year.

And Iverson took his team to the finals him self at the 2 with Eric Snow at the 1. Now Snow is was great D guy, but still. I am tired of the haters who talk then hide when we start winning. Some of them don't even watch Denver so why say stuff when you don't watch a team?
They keep having injury issues...thats whats holding them back.
Exactlly he just a AI hater.
Miller wasn't either mavsfan. Cause if you did you would see that actually AI+Melo have been the only thing that is working.(BigMo763) I agree with what he said 100%. Melo+AI work it's been the injurys. And we won't know really until next year if things will really work probably. I still think if they go on a run after the all star break like they did that other year 20-3 or w/e they will get a 4-5 seat, and make it past the first round. And then you never know what could happen. But we need tje 4-5 seat we can't play Dallas, Spurs, or the Suns in the first round.Next year Denver will be in the Western Conference finals there is a bold prediction, but I really think they can, and will.
Andre Miller might not have the height but he has the weight to be a 2 guard. Boykins could put a lot of points. Both are gone now for the scrub Blake and AI who doesn't fit on this team. Denver's main problem is defense and AI is not going to fix that and hasn't made them better on offense than before AI. Please don't make anymore excuses for Iverson.
I think is way too early to be writing this team off. They have had injury problems all year, and these guys just started playing together about 10 games ago at max. Both of these guys are playing pretty damn good right now, and they really just need to get a better chemistry going with the entire team. Things are going to be fine...

Other guys need to get better. And AI+Melo when they play together I think they score a LITTLE more then before when AI was not there. Now it is not as much as we thought, but they need time to get to know each other all the teammates need to also do what is asked not just stand around.
It is early. I think they get in the playoffs, then lose to the Suns or Mavs since they'll be the top two seeds while the Nugs will be in the bottom two. Next year they'll have a full camp to prepare, get healthy and figure out how to make the team work the right way. George Karl is a good coach. They'll figure it out. Just not this year.
<span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS">You've got to give time to the Nuggets. They have injury issues and the suspension only added to their horrible losing streak or whatnot. Overall, though, AI/Melo are working well together. The adding of J.R Smith in that mix was brilliantly planned, even though he came before Allen Iverson did... I believe that as soon as Kenyon Martin returns, this team will be able to make a run. J.R Smith should start at the 2 and A.I at the 1 spot.</span>
