Maybe it has nothing to do with Assange. If Assange does come here and testify, the losers aren't going to be happy.
Politicians of both parties seem to think she's a traitor. Democrats were happy that bad things that happened in Iraq during W's terms were made public (so was I). They've changed their tune about WikiLeaks, eh?
Im trying to make sense of this. Forgive I'm knee deep in bourbon at the moment. So, it should be ok for people to release government documents to foreign groups? It should be ok to commit espionage?
Fair enough. They have been rather embarrassed by Wikileaks, but this is a dangerous move. Seems like an decision that wasn't made with logic, but rather out of anger.
It's better to have an honest and open government. What the leaks show is that's not what we have. Manning is either a patriot or a traitor, depending on her motive. Whistleblower? Patriot. To overthrow the US? Traitor. I see nothing to indicate the motive was treason.
Ok I see your position. Regardless of her motive though she still commited espionage. Even if her intentions were good. If I fired a gun and my motive was to shoot a bottle off a wall, yet the bullet that left my gun hit and killed someone, I still commited murder, even if it wasn't my motive or intention to do so.
I don't trust the government either. But I also acknowledge, with all of its faults, that it also has good reason to keep some secrets. I don't want our country's intel and secrets falling into the hands of Russia or China. I'm quite certain that some secrets regarding our country's interests do keep our country stable and functioning; despite the fact that the interests themselves may be dirty, or may have been acquired by dirty means. That's part of the package that comes with government. That's part of being a country. There's no getting away from that; every government and every society since the dawn of time has had dirty laundry that was best kept secret for the good of the country. There's simply no getting around that. It's a very fine line between being a whistle blower, and being a traitor. I haven't followed these issues close enough to give my informed opinion about what I think Manning is, so I'll reserve my judgement on that. But...to me, this is yet one more middle finger to America from Hussein. If Manning wasn't a tranny, he wouldn't have done this. This was a purely political move to appease Liberals and SJWs.
Are you saying people who are conservatives can't be happy with something the other team did? If my wife brought home a hot girl to teach me a lesson about cheating I'd still be ecstatic.
Motive seemed to matter to Comey when he "cleared" Clinton. Your analogy isn't a good one. It's likely manslaughter at most. In fact, most of the time in many places, like California, accidentally killing someone is no crime at all. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Accidental Killing And there's no proof of anyone harmed by Manning's release of documents. There are special protections for whistleblowers, for good reason.
No. I thought there was some humor that if Obama did this to piss conservatives off as was stated above, yet they aren't pissed off.
Did motive matter to Comey when he pretended to reopened the investigation a couple days before the election to screw Clinton over. My analogy is sound. Your still going to prison for it. You still committed a crime regardless of motive. That's what I'm getting at. Manning still commited a crime regardless of her intent.
Manning didn't leak the secrets as some kind of advocate for the government keeping secrets, she did it as a personal vindictive revenge for the military's don't ask don't tell policy. That's my only real problem with the whole matter.
Yes, it mattered. But there are other crimes she got away with, like having top secret information on unauthorized systems. While I disagree with Comey's findings both times, he was doing his job. Unlike the Trump allegations, the illegal email server and the stream of lies from Clinton about it has a basis in fact. No allegations there, but hard truth. It wouldn't have mattered, at all, if Clinton was a good and honest person. The public decided she wasn't a long time ago. The WikiLeaks emails proved how crooked and rigged the democrats are. It wouldn't have mattered if they weren't doing bad things and exchanging emails about it.
